Your statement at the end, about questioning things, is exactly why I watch your videos. The consistency of testing parameters (those within your control), along with velocity, and other data. Have you ever made a list of your preferred cartridges for 5.56, for home defense use? Watching this video, I'd stay away from this load for home defense due to the risk of over penetration.

Buffman, can you do some fmj 9mm ball testing in ballistics gel. I hate to say it but after doing all the research I can looking at hollow points, fort Scott TUI, and other fmj gel tests I’m thoroughly convinced that fmj round nose consistently tumbles does just as much damage as all the premium rounds of course with a little more than average penetration which isn’t a bad thing on clothed targets full of bones and possible through walls or auto glass. Maybe it’s all you ever need, feeds more reliably too…

I wonder if the penetration would've been less in calibrated ballistic gel. Anyway, I don't have any issues with the performance. It's good to have different options for different situations. I get that it's less than ideal for "typical" self-defense distances. I do think over-penetration with 5.56 NATO isn't much of an issue. It would be interesting to see how this load performs against light barriers if that penetration demonstrated in the clear gel test translates into very good barrier blind performance or not. If it doesn't perform well against light barriers as well as M855A1 or some barrier blind LE loads, then the penetration in the gel test is of no benefit.
