    Great advice. Gotta be careful. And gotta get back to work when the time is right. Taking months off for the injury to heal isn't bad. Just train different parts of the body. We do alot of this for our mental health so just training other body parts is great. And dont feel bad for resting because you know you'll be a beast again when you are done resting

    Hey jay, I remember when you did that. I believe you went on stage even with the injury. I've torn both of my bicep from the radial bone. Separate occasions. I tell people the same thing. I was working the next day after surgery wrenching on bolts on some crude oil stuff I repaired. Feel what's right but don't over do it. My brother had his reattached two weeks after me. He's just barely curling a #40 dumbbell. I started curling a #50 back in Jan. Had my surgery oct. 28 and his was Nov 15. Now I'm curling a #70 no problem. But it is always in the back of your mind pretty much for a long time. Now my other one is due for a rebuild. No cartridge in the left elbow, bone fragments and bones spurs and tendon is frayed like garbage. Cadaver addition coming. I've also had part of my left tricep removed, pelvic, femoral, spinal, skull, facial etc surgeries and still trucking. There's no way for your to remember but I actually got your autograph on one of your photos probably around 2010 or so at a small local gold's gym. Still remember meeting and talking with you ;)

    @@TimmyTurner421 Oh, I was going to include hook grip as an option but mention just how much it hurts at higher weights, and that it kind of messes up your fingers. Guess I just forgot to write it. To me, I suppose I would rather straps be allowed than force athletes to either use split grip which risks their biceps or hook grip which hurts and damages the fingers. No one watches deadlifts for grip strength anyway.

    No that's not how he tore it. He's on video with Brian Shaw and described what happened. He was actually just picking a heavy dumbbell off the rack to do rows with and he ended up tearing it right then and there. It doesn't take much to tear a bicep.

  • @Frosty_tha_Snowman

    @Frosty_tha_Snowman

    Жыл бұрын

    @Johnny Cage honestly, you might for a really long time. I've broken each hand, when I broke my left one in highschool, I had it cast the traditional way, and at the end of it, my ligaments had tightened up, my muscle had atrophied, all that good stuff.. but my wrist mobility was shit. It was a few months later, and I could bend one wrist about 120° forward and back, but on my recently broken one, I had a range of probably 90. I work out a lot, I studied in college to become a physical therapist for a bit, am certified in personal training and nutritional therapy - and really, all there is to it, is to use it.. just use it for daily tasks, stretch it as much as you can without hurting, and work it out. This most recent broken hand, was my right, right on the pinkie metacarpal neck (same place, opposite hand) but the other was a spiral fracture, which was more severe. This time, I got a boxers fracture hand cast, that I could take off and put back on and adjust the tightness of. This one healed uglier, but it feels better, sooner. In summary: it really depends on the break. This one, I started rehabbing before it was even fully healed, to try and keep from losing so much of its use. But I would try to work it on my own, or seek some kind of council, if you feel that's not enough. But done give up hope, I was consigned to having my left hand be much weaker and less limber, but it's actually almost more useful and dominant than my right, now days.

    That's what happens when we get older our posture sucks when you don't workout which messes up our shoulders. I had a really bad shoulder and just started working out 2 years ago at the age of 39. I fixed it completely by dead hangs on a pull up bar every single day for as long as I could. Just a few times a day for like 10 to 30seconds to start with and slowly you will be able to go longer and longer hangs. Im telling you I had a really bad shoulder and I swear by just dead hanging on a pull up bar bro try it out.

    Yeah, with me it was a forearm brachia tear; too partial to re-attach, I thought; I can still see it balled up a bit near my elbow. @@coop98 I can use my arm fine for all practical purposes still.

    Mine completely detached. So I guess it was a tendon detachment, not a muscle tear. It took about a year for me to get back completely. Preacher curls.

    Technically it's a rupture, a tear of the tendon off the bone. People just commonly refer to it as tearing a muscle. It's the very end of the muscle that attaches to the bone, or the insertion points. Biceps, Triceps and Pecs seem to be the most common.

    @@wombat5252 true, that’s what the doc said, a rupture. Actually said I didn’t have to get it fixed but I chose for the surgery. I’ve actually had quite a few friends that’s had them surprisingly.

    @@t.w.wright2520 Yeah it depends on the severity of it. It's most likely a good thing you opted for the surgery of it. I've never had a tear in 14+ years of training knock on wood but I remember back in the day when my dad ruptured his Tricep doing close grip bench. Turned completely almost black. Brutal. Makes me really watch how I lift and how much. I'm not trying to be a power lifter but generally I would close grip myself around 250-275lb for reps. Worst thing that happened to me when I was close gripping and it slipped completely out of my hands dropping on my chest/sternum. Somehow I didn't have anything but a tiny bruise but I couldn't get on the bench for a month. Was scared. Lol

    as a natural (assuming you are), the risks of a biceps tear are not that great IF you build up to your lifts and don't use weights you cannot handle. juiced bbs like jay build muscle at an enormous rate. their tendons cannot handle that stress because the muscle (and therefore force) grows just so much faster. you are really not at a risk if you are doing the 2 things i mentioned. and as a natural it is always important to listen to your body. if one exercise doesn't feel right, don't do it. but you definitely should use the whole range of motion because it actually prevents injuries (as your body adapts, therefore the tendons and such strengthen too).if you want more information i would recommend the channel Geoffrey Verity Schofield, as he gives very good advise (might not be about biceps injuries exactly, but you can watch him perform biceps movements and see how he does it). but generally, DO NOT be afraid to use the full ROM.

    From other comments, I've seen that he tore it while swinging up some dumbbells in order to get them into position for an overhead press. Not the way I usually hear of bicep tears, but I guess it makes sense if he did it in a very jerky movement to fling the dumbbels up. As for me, I always get nervous when watching big guys deadlift heavy weights with a split grip. Seen so many bicep tears as a result of that 😬
