    This is a great video for 2 wheel drive models with a bolt on you style. However, 4 wheel drive models with slip yolks are a bit harder with the transfer case and its crossmember, plus all the bolts associated with that.

    How’s it going, awesome video thanks for posting. I’m doing the 4L80e install but wanted to ask after bolting the trans to the engine my gap between the torque converter and flywheel is close to 1/2”, is that normal? My measurements for the flywheel mounting pads to engine and torque converter mounting pads to bell housing flat were both within the recommended gaps specs

    Over all very good, however there are two little things that would have made it perfect. 1) marking the U joints for correct orientation for drive shaft balance. 2) should have blown out the cooler lines with air to make sure any debris from the previous install was cleaned out.(learned the hard way on this one)

    Question. So on the removal u removed the exhaust on the install the exhaust is mounted. Is it not a pain to install the transmission with the exhaust still bolted?

  • @dudewecanfixit

    @dudewecanfixit

    If you can take the exhaust off, it makes it easier. Sometimes the bolts are rusted on though. Just showing that it can be done either way.

    Ooh, that's an interesting question. Being that the 1500s and the 2500s and 3500s share the same cab, I would imagine that it would fit. There may be other complications with the fit and finish though

    Is there a trick to getting the transmission dipstick mounted on the stud? I have been unable to get it on

  • @dudewecanfixit

    @dudewecanfixit

    3 жыл бұрын

    It helps to have 2 people. You can try putting a jack under the trans and lifting it up and lowering it. Usually, letting the transmission hang gives more clearance but sometimes it needs to be in a certain position.

  • @dudewecanfixit

    @dudewecanfixit

    3 жыл бұрын

    Also, make sure the dipstick is completely seated in the pan/transmission

  • @michaelwilson527

    I had the same problem. I ended up pushing down on the tab with a notched end trim clip pry bar to get it to go over the end of the stud. Once in place and tightened down you can bend it back into the proper location as needed. They must have had the stud & nut loosely in the dipstick tube when the trans was mated to the engine on the assembly line then just snugged it up with a wrench. Can't do that so easily trying to install the tube when the transmission is already bolted to the engine or when the body tub is in the way. Piece of cake on an engine crane or on a rolling chassis.

  • @dudewecanfixit

    @dudewecanfixit

    Жыл бұрын

    It is usually best to seat the dipstick before the trans is mated to the engine.
