Synopsis: During the late Qing Dynasty (1840 - 1912), the British troops invades Guangzhou. At this time, in an ancient temple in Sanyuanli, zombies unexpectedly appear and start attacking people, causing widespread panic throughout the city. On a full moon night, even the passing British troops are attacked. Surprisingly, firearms prove ineffective against the zombies, and the British troops suffer heavy casualties. The commander of the British troops, Roberts, is greatly alarmed and asks the renowned Taoist priest Mr. Jiu from Guangzhou for help to deal with the zombies. Mr. Jiu performs rituals and successfully summons the zombie horde. After a fierce and tense battle, the zombies are finally subdued. However, the good times don't last long. Just as the British troops confidently pass by the ancient temple with their cargo, the zombies break free from their seal and launch a violent attack... Meanwhile, a dismissed inspector, Yuan Shicheng, plans to assassinate the commander of the British troops, Roberts, to avenge his brother who died in the war, but his plan fails. To cover up the truth of the assassination, Yuan Shicheng is mistakenly drawn into the zombie incident. And in the ancient temple, Yuan Shicheng finally discovers the whole truth about the mystery of the zombies...
