    Wow, that's pretty incredible. I've never seen this run before. I'm amazed to see that it's a fully groomed slope. Usually, like in Les Portes or Verbier, these slopes aren't. But with the icy conditions, I don't know what's better...

    It's new, opened two or three weeks ago. They were planning to open it early season but on opening day with the press there, strong winds prevented it and then the bad weather came so they didn't open it most of the season. I had written it off this season but fortunately managed to get in right at the end. Very happy about that!

    I did this piste the day it opened, the piste seen through the video may seem mundane to some, but it's a completely different thing to do, at least after going down the piste my legs were totally exhausted. 😅

    Yes, it's quite a steep one, the video doesn't really show it. I struggled with it at the beginning. Do you remember the exact date it opened?

    @@ChasingSnow Yes I remember the date was Saturday, March 18, 2023, there was a lot of people, I waited at least 1 hour to take the cable car downstairs that takes you to the station. I noticed on your video that the piste looks frozen yet when I did the piste wasn't frozen, that's probably because you got it in late April.

    @@nemir1277 Thanks, that's good to know. I went a few times during the season and it wasn't open. The last time was 13th March, skiing was closed due to weather but I spoke to a lady and she mentioned they hadn't opened it yet, on opening day with the press there, high winds closed the resort and poor conditions kept it closed practically all season. I gave up on it but was fortunate to do it end of season. Yes, it was frozen in the morning that day but conditions improved later as the snow softened. It was my last run for season 2023, I made a video of it...

    @@ChasingSnow I also remember waiting long weeks (even months) to attend the opening, if I remember correctly the tunnel to access the piste was drilled in summer and the piste was supposed to be open at the beginning of the 2022/2023 season... I couldn't say why they didn't open it anyway I'm glad to have been able to do this piste which was closed since the 90s! Besides I hope to be able to do it again (without falling if possible).

    @@nemir1277 I was told opening day had very high winds so they couldn't open it, which I think should have been around 18 or 19 Dec 2022 and then the warm weather/rain came ... Yes, the lady mentioned she grew up on that piste so interesting to know it closed in the 90s...

    Hi, I really like your videos 🤩. You have the potential to make even better ones. Do yourself a favour and take some advanced ski lessons and you will have more fun, more confidence and you can make videos showing your skills. I learned to ski in the 70' relearned it in the 90' when carving skis were introduced, took lessons to learn moguls and powder skiing in the 00'. but you can always learn when skiing with pros.

    Appreciate the feedback! The thing I love about skiing is that there is always something new to learn and always a new challenge around the corner. Seems you yourself have experienced that. I do struggle at times but generally I ski with confidence, at least in my head :-) I do set myself challenges when I struggle, to see how I can do it better next time with the goal to master it. Moguls are now on my list and I've watched enough videos that I'm ready to put into practice. There are many experts on KZread and I'm not qualified to compete with them, I try to keep my videos basic for now, showcasing resorts but as things improve I suspect I'll be collaborating with some experts in future, where they can help refine my skiils while I promote their expertise and make some videos together... Let's see how things go...

    Yeah, snow was kind of jagged and I could feel the vibrations in my skies so difficult to control. Fortunately I managed to recover that time. The next time I wasn't so lucky and fell around the same area to practically freefall into the net the guy was putting up on the left. I might have to release that footage another time.

    It's late and misread your comment. I thought you were mentioning the slip on my side... Yes, I was side slipping as it was my first time down the groomed slope and was told by ski patrol it was hard and icy, so needed to be cautious. Also I wanted to get a straight line down to see how the GPS data would grade the slope. The 104% is at the beginning so with the GPS data being averaged out, it doesn't show it....

    A little rough for a warm up run, ice is scary by itself, but the grooming wasn't all that smooth. More of a lick here, a lick there, and let the elves with the shovels chew on it here and there. In that tunnel, are you on some kind of endless belt? That was a great recovery, by the way. Many of your videos are exciting. This one was more than a little frightening. Gotta try it again on snow instead of ice.

  • @ChasingSnow

    In the tunnel, they have that carpet and then they pack snow every few metres for some reason. The grooming was not the best but considering this run was closed most of the season, I was glad to capture it in the end. I am going to redo this video, I've been checking the telemetry values and can see that the grade as a percent is not so accurate (it's averaged), however, grade as a degree seems to be more accurate for this type of slope.

    It's really one of the coolest runs! 💪⛷👍I wouldn't like to ski it on the such icy condition of the piste when you can't stop yourself even with side sliding. This is one side. From the other side, I haven't seen 104% at least according to your GPS, maximum was 73%. What do you think, 104% is an advertisement only or it is really at least about 90%? As I can see the most steepest part is at the very beginning of the piste.

  • @ChasingSnow

    @ChasingSnow

    Жыл бұрын

    In the other video I posted on this slope it managed to get to 99%. The steepest is at the beginning and it would seem my GPS data is being averaged out. I spoke to the cable car operator and he mentioned they measured it during the summer and it came to 48° so steeper than advertised. I have some more videos so I will see if I can get better readings and see if there is a gauge that gives instant grade rather than averaged grade.
