The northern resort on Etna was open when I lived there (however, stay on-piste or you might do a face-plant due to the very shallow snow covering lava pumice). The southern area (Refugio Sapienza?) was being damaged by active lava flows (2001).

An active volcano, one of the Decade
Hey there, fellow snowboarding enthusiasts! I just wanted to share my amazing experience of staying in Gulmarg for 2 months in 2011, and shredding some of the most breathtaking slopes I've ever encountered. The beauty of Gulmarg is unparalleled, with its snow-covered peaks and untouched wilderness. As a snowboarder, there's nothing quite like carving through the fresh powder and feeling the adrenaline rush through your veins. But beyond the incredible terrain and stunning scenery, what really made my time in Gulmarg special was the people. I met some of the most welcoming, hospitable locals who showed me the true essence of Kashmiri culture. It was humbling to experience firsthand their resilience and strength in the face of adversity, and I left with a newfound appreciation for the importance of community and connection. So to anyone considering a snowboarding trip to Gulmarg, I cannot recommend it enough. Not only will you have the time of your life on the slopes, but you'll also come away with a deeper understanding of the world and the incredible people who inhabit it. Also, if any of the friends I made during my time there happen to see this comment, please don't hesitate to reach out! I would love to catch up and reminisce about our amazing experiences in Gulmarg. Keep shredding, my friends!

So you missed Mount Hermon, a bunch in Iran, some more in Lebanon, a couple in Iraq, and Algeria for sure. I once many years ago as a naive teenager had the idea to ski in every country with a ski lift for natural snow. Then I discovered how many countries that was, and there was no way in hell I was visiting some of them.

The most interesting resort that I have been to is probably Malcesine/Monte Baldo at Lake Garda in Italy 🇮🇹 Malcesine is a Picturesque village with a beach, but on the town square you can take a gondola 🚠 to 1.450m above sea level. When you’re up you’ll find yourself at the base station of a ”large” ski resort. Probably the best place to own a home. You can swim for 4-5 month and ski for 3-4. Probably can enjoy the food and view the 3-4 month in between 😎

1/28/23 Yet another new winter storm is slamming into the Aloha State, bringing another round of heavy snow to the Big Island of Hawaii. Due to the heavy snow, the National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a Winter Storm Warning for portions of Hawaii Island. Just one storm in January 2020 dropped 2-3 feet of snow on Hawaii Island and created snow drifts that were far deeper. Another storm in January 2021 brought snowboarders and skiers out to the mountain by the dozens. A blizzard hit the Big Island last December, guaranteeing a White Christmas there for 2022 just weeks ago.

Hi there I spotted my content here (Gulmarg). The least you could do is to credit all of the footage being used.
Ski Dubai is a blast! It was on my bucket list. The first runs seem soooo unreal. It's 90 degrees outside and I am skiing!?! But then it was just a nice day of easy skiing - it's a green/blue run. It's just steep enough at the top to get up some speed and make some nice turns. What's really great is that it's open until 11 PM. So, you can have a full day at the beach or ride camels in the desert, have dinner, and then ski for a couple of hours. Not s bad day! It's located in the Mall of the Emirates, a huge Dubai mall. You walk past Vuitton and Gucci stores and then go inside Ski Dubai. It suddenly feels like the base lodge of a small area. People are "clomping" around in ski boots. You can rent all the gear - skis, boots, ski suit and gloves. You go through two sets of sliding glass doors....and suddenly it's freezing cold! There is a toboggan run and penguin area. There is a big 4 passenger chair and a small poma on the side. The chairlift runs very slowly, so it takes a lot longer to go up than go down. The snow, as you would expect, is perfect packed powder. I saw a bunch of hot-shot kids running gates - it's steep enough for that. The coach said the kids's parents live there, but go to the Alps in the winter. You can also see the windows of the Kempinski hotel that overlooks the slopes. They have "chalet suites" decked out with fireplaces and look like a sleek Swiss ski hotel - quite bizarre. Anyway, I recommend it highly. It's not challenging - obviously. But then there is no fear of blizzards or avalanches!
