★ 4K 🇫🇷 Amiens - Calais cab ride in a BB67400, France [04.2023] VSOE Führerstandsmitfahrt

This new video will take us from Amiens, in the prefecture of the Somme, to Calais, in Pas-de-Calais, via Boulogne-sur-mer, along the Bay of Somme and the Opal coast (Côte d'Opale) aboard the legendary Venice Simplon Orient Express, pulled on this last part of the journey by two valiant BB67400 diesels.
The beauty of the landscapes we'll be crossing (which is a first on the channel, and on KZread) will allow you to admire the richness of what northern France has to offer, all lulled by the sound of the Pielstick engine, which doesn't have an easy job pulling the heavy luxurious consist.
As a bonus, at the end of the video, we continue with the locomotives towards the old Calais-Maritime station, for the head to tail manoeuvre.
We wish you a great trip!

This brings back memories! The oldest is from around 1966 standing on Wimereux Station watching the Fleche D' Or fly by hauled by a steam engine. I recall the stationmaster came out and stood to attention to salute the train. Later around 1970 I rode this line on the Rome Express from Calais Maritime all the way to Italy. This part is very much how I remember it, with a diesel to Amiens and then electic beyond, apart from the bit around the Petite Ceinture in Paris. Nice memories and thanks for uploading this video.

Thank you for the bonus trip towards Calais-Maritime! I last used that station in 1994, indeed I arrived on an overnight couchette train and then spent all day hanging around (including walking into Calais for food) waiting for my bicycle to arrive - fortunately it did, on the evening train from Paris. Alas Maritime, and its opposite number Dover Western Docks, both closed soon afterwards.

Here is Picardy! Amiens seems to have a somewhat run-down station! I remember that the facade had been modernized a short time ago. Certainly, as in all French cities, the railway enters the urban fabric and is difficult to rebuild. I feel like the shelters need a repaint! Anyway, nice deal! I remember that Abbeville station was particular. The stretch from Boulogne to Calais is significant. I have never understood why, given the straight line, it has never been completely electrified. Few trains! But it's a Lorirocks 777 video and it can't be bad! heartfelt congratulations!
