Towards the end of July 2022, Prestwick had 8 RCAF F18s pass through, enroute to Romania, for NATO air policing. With tensions still heightening with the ongoing war, between Russia and Ukraine, NATO has upper their air policing in Eastern Europe. With many NATO members taking turns policing Eastern Europe, so far this year, the US, UK and Canadians have all taken turns air policing eastern Europe. Only 7 F18s departed, with one breaking, due to storms in Prestwick over the weekend. The engine got flooded with the amount of rain that fell, during the storms.
The F18s departed in two ships, a 3 ship CLAW21-23, then a 4 ship SLIVER31-34.
