489. Breaking Free from PPG MultiPro: Embrace the Black and Succeed

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

#arttechnique #deconstructedbloom #diypainting
In this video, I tackle micro air bubble issues with PPG MultiPro, leading to a bold switch to black paint. Witness the drama, learn tilting for composition, and see how SheleeArt's bloom technique transforms into a deconstructed abstract piece. It's a journey of determination and ingenuity in the world of fluid art, giving the painting a mysterious, otherworldly vibe. Dive into the practical side of overcoming challenges and creating compelling abstract pieces. #FluidArt #AbstractPainting #ArtTechniques
Colors for the deconstructed bloom include Golden Teal, Ultramarine Blue, and Amsterdam Rose. Your feedback is incredibly valuable, so please share your thoughts in the comments section. Thank you for joining me on this creative journey! 🙏 🥳

THE RECIPE:
House Paint-base aka puddle for the substrate: PPG Multi-Pro in Satin at Home Depot.
Pouring Medium aka PM Recipe: mix with all colors EXCEPT the cell activator:
Behr 8300 Untinted Deep Base Paint (Home Depot); and Valspar High Gloss Ultra Base C Untinted base (Lowe's). 50/50. Mix well. NO varnish added!
Use the colors of your choice! These tutorials are meant to educate and inspire! Here's how to mix:
Pigments: For a 3 oz cup I add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of pigment powder to the cup, then add enough gloss varnish (any brand; I use JoSonja gloss varnish) to cover the powder. Mix well until all pigment is thoroughly wet; then add the pouring medium.
Golden, Atelier, and Da Vinci Fluid Acrylics: I put about 2-2 1/2 ounces of the pouring medium into a 3 ounce cup, then squirt in color until I reach my desired shade. Mix well.
For tube paint, I added an ounce of paint (heaping tablespoon) to a 3 ounce cup, then added 2 ounces of pouring medium. If still thick I add a squirt of Golden's High Flow Medium (thins and extends acrylic colors) and stir well. All pigments are 1/8th tsp. pre-disbursed with a small amount of JoSonja Varnish to wet it (stir really well), then add into a 3 oz. cup of Pouring Medium; stir well.
Cell Activator/Color: Australian Floetrol + Amsterdam Carbon Black and Titanium White . 2.5 -1 ratio Floetrol to paint.

Good God, Karen! Watching you just blow out the CA with your mouth almost made ME black out, I envisioned myself just flopping onto my canvas. I use a mini blower specifically for that purpose. 😂 I love watching you go from grumpy to happy in just minutes. Your personality, style and unique way of taking us through a painting session is like being in the company of a good friend. But I digress - the painting, WOW, I can see why you’re happy. Damn, it’s stunning! So much depth! My blowouts had ended up being scraped most of the time and sometimes, I’d be unmotivated after a couple of those. You helped me in that I don’t scrape at all anymore. I just try again, laying down my pillow right on top of the first. I keep going and found I’m putting out more work that I really like. By the way, do you have any idea as to how long the 1st painting can sit before I pour another pillow on top? Anyway, I love this work of art, Karen. ❤

Toward the beginning of the video, there was a strip of black on the right that you wanted to get off the canvas. If you moved the whole canvas over to the right on your spinner, the centrifugal force will help to get it off the canvas with the least amount of change to the rest of the painting. You can have more control of what gets spun off by moving the entire canvas around on the spinner. The part of the painting that is closer to the center of the spinner will move the least, the parts at the outer edges of the spinner will move the most, which you probably already know, so use the position of the canvas on the spinner to help control which paint moves where. If all of that makes sense! 🙃

The first thing I thought of was that bio-illuminessence stuff in the ocean I see on videos. I'm not sure I'm calling it by its proper name but it glows blue/green and it's actually some form of life/fish? It's incredibly beautiful and I have to say I've never seen anyone do an art piece to do that justice until this one. Lol, I saw everything you pointed out, it was funny! But standing back from it almost seems like the "sky" is reflecting the ocean, which is usually the other way around. Awesome accident!! Bet she sold fast! Smiles and blessings...

Karen you have to stir the paint well as paint separates into the different components in the can. If you don’t stir well by the time you get to the bottom it’s full of the hardeners and little other paint pigments etc. You need to stir it well then bang it on the bench to get the bubbles to rise and leave it covered for half an hour. All house paint whatever brand you use has to be stirred well or it will decompose in a few years

  • @WaterfallAcrylics

    @WaterfallAcrylics

Lynn I was referring to the spinners at the paint store; OF COURSE I know to stir paint! I decant it, I bang on it; I tried to lightly torch it. I’m not a beginner.

I know you’re not a beginner, I’ve been watching you since the start! I get them to mix it then I know it’s all mixed well but I don’t open it for 24 hours then mix it with a stirrer and bang it and leave again. A house painter told me it will degrade over time if not stirred all the hardeners into it properly and they also disperse bubbles
