After getting the hot water heater fixed in the van, it's time for us to head to California to get the dents removed. It's close to 900 miles, and we have 10 days to get there, but instead of doing the sensible thing and taking our time to do so, we decided to pack it all into 48 hours. 🤦♀️ Come along with us in this video as we knock out the first half of the trip driving through Idaho, where we'll visit the Niagara Falls of the West, Shoshone Falls in Twin Falls, Idaho. It's going to be an epic RV travel day, so come along!

Just and FYI on the word "Shoshone". It is pronounced ( SHA - SHOW - KNEE ). They were an Indian Tribe that roamed the area. I believe that is correct but I could be wrong. Have fun. Fred in Texas

He's right in pronunciation of the falls! They are beautiful!
You can have the DEF quantity displayed on the driver's center consul. Hit the home button on the left side of the steering wheel, and then you can find the option of displaying the DEF quantity. I don't remember if it is in info or display, but it is there. Once the DEF drops below 1/2 full you should get a warning saying it needs to be refilled. 1/2 tank usually takes a full DEF bottle like you find in a square box.
I am really surprised Dash will stay happy in his car seat so far back! I assume you have to sit back there sometimes.

Remember that when you go up in altitude like going up a mountain the air gets thinner and your get less engine power
U guys can smile through everything.. thats frickin amazing. I can just tell is Dash will be amazing just like his momma and daddy 💗💞

Enjoyed watching you travel through Wyoming and Idaho. Cheryl and I will be heading out that way end of Sept to Elk Mountain, covering almost the same route you have. Hope everything works out with the hail damage repair!

We stayed a few days in Twin Falls. Of course, we had to visit the site where Evel Knievel tried to jump the Snake River in 1974. The ramp is still there as a classic piece of Americana. PLUS, we had the best lunch so far of all 2023 in downtown Twin Falls. Who would have guessed that? Milner's Gate - definitely wandering local...
You can configure the DEF gauge to show up on the main screen area all the time. In addition, the Mercedes Smartphone App is useful for this - along with being able to remote lock/unlock, start, etc. Safe Travels!

Also, I found that adding DEF at 1/2 empty takes a full 2.5 gallon refill. Best on these vans not to get the message!!

We drove home in 3 days from WY cause I was flying to sisters for a quilt show, I feel your pain! Funny we’re going to WI to visit the parental units soon, we already have reservations at welcome station! Glad to see it’s a nice place.

Your Mercedes chassis has a DEF gauge just as it has a diesel gauge. Our Mercedes chassis on our Grech’s dashboard is a tad different than yours since the features are a bit different, but I guarantee you do have a DEF gauge,. And we do the same, our def tank is just a tad over 5 gallons so when it hits half a tank, that’s when we add more DEF since it comes in 2 1/2 gallon containers, if you’ve driven 4000 miles since you filled your DEF tank, you’re still good for quite some time
I noticed when we were driving through Idaho and Utah in early June, that diesel was cheaper than regular unleaded. Still same? Of course California is a whole other story :/

Surprisingly, the CA town we’re in the diesel is cheaper than the premium. Not the regular; but at least the premium. It’s crazy when it’s $1 more. 🤦🏻♂️

You know you are carrying a kitchen along with you and can make more coffee than you could drink. Might take hours off your 48 hour drive.
