my main question is if stan wanted the journals why did he hide them in the first place we know he knew about the portal hes been working on it since ford went missing and if he realized after he hid them why didn't he just go get them after all HE hid them

Ford only asks stan to hide journal 1. There is a high likelihood that Ford hid the others.
