That looks incredible. Remember that as you move foreword with the fit and finish work you will be your own worst critic no one else will notice the small insignificant flaws that jump out at you because you know where everyone is and you will just have to forget them and enjoy the fruits of your labor. Just grab a handful of throttle bring up on plane put your grin into the wind and enjoy the great thing that you built with your own hands the sweat of your brow. Please enjoy what you have worked for you have earned it the hard way you built it yourself.

There are times where I let myself dream about stepping on it floating for the first time. Turning the key and cracking it up and putting it on plane for the first time. Watching the spray come off the chines, looking back and seeing the wake fade away. My cheeks start aching just imagining it. But, the process and the struggle will all fade away that day, at that moment. I just want to do what I can to be as proud as absolutely possible. But I like the way you are thinking. It’s gonna be great.

I’m not as much worried about it, but it was relieving figure it out what happened to cause it. to be honest, after the next coat of paint, you can’t see it at all it shines to much. But I’m leaving that so you can have something to remind me of. You know, like that spot on your boat I see every time I look at it.

That paint looks way better than my paint job and less work when rolling. I was getting bubbles with Pettit EZ Poxy paint. But they ALL popped when I came back over them with the same roller after letting the solvents flash off. I'm sure you already figured it out by now, but rolling the roller in one direction will help the blend. I wish I would have spent a bit more time wet sanding and buffing out the paint but I got used to the orange peel and enjoying taking the boat out! Wet sanding keeps the sand paper from gumming up. I ran a water hose on low while sanding between coats. Just FYI for future work.. What's crazy is I noticed the keel throughout your fairing process. It's a home made boat so it's got it's characteristics!

Learning along the way man. That keel pad has been baffling for me for so long. I finally remembered what I did to cause it. After the last coat of paint that went on no one has seen, you can’t see the lines at all it;s so smooth. Much less sanding in my future. The changes I made with the paint and painting while it was cooler made all the difference in the world. I doubt I will need to do a lot of wet sanding and buffing based on what I have seen with this last coat.

Looking good, it is always a great moment when you can see a glossy surface for the first time. I have only sprayed boats after the first couple had the same problems that you have encountered and also a hull your size there would only take 10 minutes to cover but I always started at the sheer and full length and went over the hull to the other sheer to avoid the wet edge problem. I am not familiar with the brand and type of paint that you used (Australia has different brands and types) but I also use a little retarder so that the overspray can blend on the final coat. Also a guide coat for cutting back top coats is only necessary for wet sanding as you are only removing the texture and not filling and can see what is happening. Great progress and looking forward to see it all glossy.

Yeah it’s a different process for spraying for certain, but once again, that’s just not an option for me right now. But, as I figure out the products and the process it’s gotten much much better. You will see it coming. Keep letting me know how I’m doing.

Run by bass pro or really any boat retailer. This paint job is as good as any boat you'll see on those lots. Every coat gets a little better. You're always going to have roller marks, you're always going to get orange peel. By the time you have 3 coats, you have enough paint thickness to smooth it down to a perfect finish. Apply 75 mil of paint, sand 15 mil off to get it smooth and you'll be there.

Well I appreciate it, but the only comparison that will really matter to me is if it's as good as I am capable of doing. It's been a heck of a path to get here, so I'm enjoying the slow consistent progression and I am hopeful I have learned some valuable lessons that I can utilize as I move forward. That's the real name of the game.

Maybe I can head you off, but if I was to think about molding it, and I'm not really, I would start over and make it perfect in every way using what I know now. And I'd only worry about building out the hull and not all the internals that took a fair amount of time as well. That would be a different step. And don't live through me. Get out there and make me jealous of you.

There you go using dog anatomy I don’t understand. I’m not sure what brand of power, but I’m leaning towards a Yamaha SHO 115 for shunting, and Simrad Go9 MFD. Get to work on your boat and get it done.
