    Really Nice Job! I painted a set of French doors last year. Must of sanded it out 10 times before I got it right. Curios to see the paint blend from the sides to the bottom.

    I'm hoping from taking the advice of highly experience yacht builders that by breaking the paint line at the chine edge that it looks pretty seamless. There was certainly a learning curve to getting to this point, but all that experience will be invaluable as I move forward. Only thing worse than sanding one French door is having to do another one.

    I'm not sure just yet. I had a couple pieces mounted to the inner bulkheads when I roller it over the first time. You can see that in Episode 23 I think. I'm thinking I will just installed the bow and stern eyes and flip her in the air using them. But, I'm still pondering that at the moment. What would you do?

  • @61066clocks

    @61066clocks

    11 ай бұрын

    @Bigeaux20 I don't know. I guess if you use swivels on the ropes at the stern eyes, it may roll right on over. The Bow eye is center so not issue there... It definately would be easier than building a roll carrier..but that procedure would be the safest??

  • @Bigeaux20

    I'm thinking along the same lines. With ropes and/or ratchet straps where I can take one up, then let the other out, it may just roll right over and hold it until the trailer is situated under it. Since the sides aren't in topcoat, that gives me a little wiggle room. Good stuff.

    How long do you need to wait between the second coat of paint and the final sanding? Thanks!

  • @Bigeaux20

    @Bigeaux20

    I think I understand your question to be how long after the last coat of paint. There are actually three coats of top coat on my build, although I sanded each of the first two coats. The specs say anything after 24 hours must be sanded before putting down another coat. I don't plan to sand this last coat I put down since I don't expect right now to add any more paint. You think I should?

  • @kingdabing

    I have done the second coat this morning but it’s not perfect. I’m waiting it to be dry to sand it before the final coat. Thanks!

  • @Bigeaux20

    @Bigeaux20

    11 ай бұрын

    Yeah if you are using Alexseal it says you have to sand if your next coat is after 24 hours, so that's kind of been my standard for when I can sand as well. I'm sure cutting that a little bit as long as the paper works wouldn't be horrible, but I would use caution with that.

    Wow, it looks great man. Just to let you know if you don’t know, already there are rubbing compounds out there like 3M that is pretty good and will turn that paint into glass. That’s what most boat yards do. You will have to get a buffer, but you can use it on your vehicles after.

  • @Bigeaux20

    @Bigeaux20

    11 ай бұрын

    Yes I am pondering some buffing, but I was already concerned about that paint there being a touch thin. I don't want to buff it and burn through when I can sand it all smooth again with 400 and put on another coat. I am leaning this direction just to apply everything I have learned about laying down the paint. One last time to bring it all together. What would you do?
