If you read even his wiki page you kinda cannot believe how a corporate president of a multibillionaire company had such a huge creative impact , on top of the business part.

And this is why Pokémon Crystal is my favourite Pokémon game.
Iwata was a real treasure to the gaming industry. He really touched a lot of people's lives through his work. I always loved his saying, “On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer.” With Iwata's passing and Reggie retiring it was an end of an era, but with people like Miyamoto, Sakurai and Aonuma still in the scene, Nintendo is still strong as ever.
@McKueen

my favorite Iwata quote is [ " I challenge every developer that If we ever come to a disagreement, please follow your opinion first, and not mine, because you cant put limits on creative minds and expect them to be creative".] I think this summarizes his entire philosophy and the respect he showed within the company. ("Ask Iwata" is a really nice book, almost like a philosophy one and has lot info about how things worked in Nintendo during his time)

The reason I adored Nintendo was for all these small Easter Eggs I kept discovering all the time. I remember my younger self when I found out that by simultaneously pressing L and R on my Nintendo DS while pressing A to start "New Super Mario Bros," I could play the game as Luigi. Bonus fact: not sure if any of Nintendo's other consoles did this, but both the Wii and GameCube's model numbers referenced their development codenames. GCs and accessories are denoted DOL-XXX, while Wiis and accessories are denoted RVL-XXX, referencing Dolphin and Revolution respectively; their codenames during development. I know the NES and GameBoys referenced their final release names, and am unsure about other consoles, but feel free to add more.

0:09 This is blatantly false. At no point was Diskun ever the mascot for Nintendo as a whole, rather Diskun was the mascot for a specific Famicom addon the Famicom Disk System. At no point was Diskun replaced by Mario. Even before the Disk System released in February 1986, Mario was already the defacto mascot for Nintendo after the monster success of Super Mario Bros. in Japan. You clearly do not know what you're talking about and this level of misinformation is outright embarrassing. Leave it to the experts next time.

@@Iiiiiiiii69iiiiiiiiii it's not the only thing this video gets wrong, plenty of details are warped and outright incorrect. The Color-TV Game "console" was actually a series of 5 different consoles. The Virtual Boy is more in-line with 3D glasses not VR. The origin of Donkey Kong's name comes from an attempt by Shinichi Todori to find an English word for the Japanese term tomma and came up with Donkey. I can go on and on but you get the point.
