If I was building one of those nice things, I would definitely use concrete footings and get that pressure treated wood fastened with metal planks so that it has no contact to concrete. These guys have done a lot of work, but I fear you have saved a few bucks on one of the few places you should not.

I agree, no matter what and how it's treated wood shouldn't be in direct contact with ground. Expensive fix.

A bit different than we build here. We run 6” minimum concrete in the bottoms, think I saw them dump sackcrete in the video. We backfill with concrete, or in some cases gravel. We run ground contact pressure treated poles. Yours look untreated with something painted on the bottoms. We run 6x8 posts on the side walls for wind rating, yours look to all be 6x6, with a section of more poles in the long wall centers. Good looking building. Looks to have lots of functionality designed into it. Congratulations!

Looks great. It's also interesting to see how barns are build compared to other countries. We rarely build them with wood anymore of this size, tough it looks absolutely fantastic with it. Aluminium sheeted and metal support beam barns are currently the cheapest and most durable option where I live. They don't look half as nice and natural as this barn does inside tough. Real cool stuff. I'm curious how you're going to use it. I've begun beekeeping three years ago and mostly get inspired by Bobs channel and yours. Cool stuff. :)

I love it when people are surprised at how fast a good crew can put a building up, when you have a good crew working together astounding things can be accomplished in mere days. Though the dark exterior might make it kinda worm in there when your hot season comes. :) You will find that you should have built bigger as time progresses, I look forward to seeing what ya fill it with :) Ty, for your videos, Blessed Days...

We've had a black barn (with black roof) since 2019 and it it doesn't make it any hotter inside. No shade. We did insulate well, which I'm sure has a lot to do with it, but we absolutely love it! I've also planted a lot of landscape around it and don't find that the black affects are plants negatively either. Beautiful barn Kaylee!

best part are the windows natural light & looks like good drainage around that footing keep doors closed as much as possible updraft from straight line winds will take the roof off its tempting to install wood stove but dont not worth the risk of fire machine shed here is 48x120 there's so much 12-2 wire i had to replace the 20amp breakers with 30amp because they kept tripping there's only 4 light fixtures currently using 150watt incandescent bulbs because they're bright but need to find some good LED real estate inspector made me install 2 fire extinguishers in that 1 building because the mig welder is in there

Fast and cheap for sure, but not for long time. go and see how RR building do his work on his youtube channel. You will have some good exemple of how to do such construction in the right way. Hope you wil find a solution to skip this problem of design.

Amazing how wide the building is supported by trusses without any middle support. I did not appreciate the verticle structure support beams directly in contact with dirt rather than on top of concrete base but maybe the budget(?)

The support beams are treated with a special coating that prevents them from water damage that is 50% more resistant than any typical lumber purchased from lumber yards. Concrete is next.

@@TheHoneystead Thank you so much. I love the building. Great concept for a home. The structure goes up quick, you are protected from the elements, then subdivide the interior at your own financial pace. But on a slab of course.
