Wow, Eric you make me feel that am stuck with my 2011 volt for life even here in Ghana, Africa. I seem to be the only volt owner out here but am so confident cos so far no problems at all. I currently have 84k miles and struts me, I have driven it on some of the roughest roads you can think of.

Simon Henley Good for you. Look forward to owning the roads especially freeways. Pulling ahead to the speed limit and leaving all cars behind at the lights. Quick and agile maneuvering, almost sports car feel. If early year ( mine 2017 ) you can watch videos and movies on USB stick ( MP4 720P and lower for older movies). Clean quiet comfortable operation. A fantastic driving machine!

Fantastic news that you made it to 400k+ miles! Your positive experiences helped me decide to buy my 2014 last year (which I absolutely love!). It has 26k miles and I only drive about 7k/year so I don't think I'll ever get to 200k much less 400k. Keep us updated and enjoy the Volt!

Supposedly they limited the battery in order to give costumers a reason to change after a few years but if you know anything about electronic devices by keeping the Lithium battery between 10% and 80% charge which is what the volt does it will keep it alive for way longer than what Chevrolet except it something that the Tesla doesn't do it only keeps the battery to go till 90% if you want to but it does goes below 10% if you allow it to reason why you most change the battery after 120k or 150k miles on a bad shape Tesla

I've watched your video of you are around and get this I'm researching because I'm deciding between a new volt and a honda clarity. With gm canceling volts from here on out I can get a 2018 way cheap like 24000 now. Opinion? Because I dont k ow if the warranty or the parts will still be available for it later on. I'll eventually go full ev once better chargers are in my state but till then this is cheap enough and has the range for my daily commute pure electric. Might need the motor a little once every other week to get my daughter but other then that.

Paulo Silva Good for you brother in non pollution. How does it feel to be ahead of the pack? Your controller learns. In my situation there is nothing up to a Corvette Z06 that can touch me off the line and up to max speed. The most I lose is a couple of miles and teeny bit of rubber in the short squeals ha ha in total silence. For a little fun, crack your windows up 1/4 open and punch it. The blast of wind that goes through the car up to the speed limit is exhilarating! I also get an average of 300 miles per charge, with 115,000 miles. The only problem I had as a ride-share driver was the high note horn which cost $15 and changed myself. I set a high bar for my cars ( my last car with 400,000 miles was a third generation 1996 Legend Acura 3.2 TL) I still have memory of a Ferrari driver with open mouth side by side at speed with my “White Lightning “ Bolt. Enjoy what I consider the real ultimate driving machine.

This occurred at 146K miles I did have the gear box oil changed at 100K miles in hopes to avoid such issues to no avail LOL. The dealer said see you back in a few months Dang for Sure Hope NOT Ouch

I fully agree with Erick... The best electric car option ever probably. The full electric motor propulsion vehicle with an on-board electricity generator which works impeccable in tandem with gas stations unlike tesla style EVs which have to relay on on-board battery option 100 % all the time. All battery only powered EVs have retarded issues such as charger availability & charging time, phantom power loss, overheating & cell degradation with fast charging, etc... Why not using the best of the both worlds; "excellence of full EV driving with a handsome on-board generator"

My 2013 at 40k miles had a tie rod end go bad. Made a clicking noise when engaging the drive in front right. I also had a situation where the car would not allow my 240 v charger (level 2 or 3?) turn on. I could use the 120v oem charger if I told it to go to the higher charge rate... odd. But they said it was the charger port? Then after replacing port it still messed up and they said its a software fix. It works now.

Instead of putting on run flat tires I would recommend Michelin Defender tires. Made a huge improvement in my Volt's handling and they are a high mileage tire. Also added a spare tire which sits in the back. Why are you shifting into low many times a day. Just put it in low and leave it there. Mine is a '14 model and leaving it in low works fine. Got that tip from my Chevy salesman.

I am amazed that you still get 10.4 kwh out of yours. My 2012 has 75k miles and I'm down to 8 (sometimes down to 7.3) and the worst part is this is my second battery. My 1st battery got replaced at about 30k. I doubt the 2nd battery will drop below the 30% warranty threshold before the warranty is out, but I still like the car and will be getting one of those upgraded, rebuilt batteries when I get to about 20 miles per charge.

I used to deplete the battery 3 times per day and only level 2 charged it due to my tough schedule. After 400,000 miles, I only got 9.2kw but that was due to a shorting out main motor using more power than it should. Once he repaired the motor, battery kw went back up to 9.8kw. Hope you get a job that is even closer. My job, before I retired was only about 5 miles away. I can't imagine driving as much as you. We bought a 2017 Volt on March 13, 2020. Due to being retired and the pandemic, we've only driven it 1,000 miles. I filled the gas tank when I bought it, and now it is running in gas maintenance mode because the fuel is too old. Haven't put gas in it for a year. It has about 34,000 miles. Good to know it will probably last us a very long time. My only concern is I would like to take it to the dessert and mountains for the day but I'm concerned about getting a flat. I do have a $3 a month Consumer Cellular flat repair service. I just don't know how it will work in the country.

Flat tires are really common on volts! I've had at least 14 flats with Ol Sparkie! I always carry a full size spare in the hatch. Very dangerous but so needed for my commute. Runflat tires only worked in the rear cause the front of the car was too heavy. Learned that the hard way!!

@@erickbelmer9350 My dad had a flat on his 2017 Volt, kind of out in the wilderness with no cell coverage. He was 90 at the time and was going skiing, which tells you a lot about my dad. He had to wait for a passerby and ask them to call a tow truck for him when they got into cell coverage. Now he carries a full size spare whenever he is going out of cell range. He loans it to me for my 2013 Volt when needed! I need to find him a tether for it so it can’t hit him in the head in an accident.

Personally, I believe it because I've never heard of any battery degredation reported in the volt due to over engineering of battery cooling and charge and discharge limits.
