He had a point though. What Arya was taught was defensive sword play with a rapier. The goal wasn't to kill. The goal was to just drag the fight out long enough to either make the attacker give up in frustration or give time for someone else to intervene and do the wet work and get blood on their hands and avoid the lady having to do it herself.

Best character in the series. Not even the bad script of season 8 could stain him.

@Liberty or Death really, wow 0.0 i learnt something about an island where he went and was supposed to have a kind of Christian life not being a sinner anymore. I read also a lot about sansan ship and I thought it was beyond this part, not only when he was protecting Arya and talked about how pretty is her bigger sister. In the book hes less charismatic, the actor in the show made him as deep and funny as a daddy bear, but in the book hes colder and more threatening even with Sansa in the first book. Thanks for your answer, i was hesitating to read all the books to know more about him ^^

The thing about that whole exchange, and Arya was the only other person in that room who understood it, was that everytime Sandor mentioned eating a chicken, he was talking about killing somebody. At first it was just going to be the talker, because he was rude to Arya, with the whole trading chickens comment. But when the Talker looked back at his friend, he knew he would have to kill two. After that he knew he was just going to kill the whole lot of them on principle.

KesselRunHero perhaps, but by the end of the series he seems to care for her in at least some way. He convinces her not to follow him so she will not die and during the battle against the white walkers, he jumps in after seeing Arya in danger when just moments before he was screaming in fear due to the fire and the dead. But Sandor is also one of my favorite characters, so ofc I’m biased !!

Yep. And the best part is you can use this as a basis for other good summations of character. Robert Wright has a whole room with at least five walls that are fifty feet long. Every single one of them lined with swords. And he has named every single one of them.

Despite his hard, cold exterior- hell, his interior, too, Sandor had a soft spot for the Stark girls. The bond he and Arya developed happened organically and didn't seem to be forced. They became a dynamic duo.

The "chicken" scene was badass. "You´re gonna die for some chickens?" "Someone is."

The hound started off as one of my worst charachters but so quickly became one of my fav charachters. He is such a badass. I hope he kills the mountain in season 8.

I don’t think so. He was throwing away a lifetime of service to the Lannisters and all the good and bad that came with it. His house, his honor, even his life were being flushed down with that speech. I think the pause was because he was registering how monumental a choice that was; that he’d come too far in what he’d said to walk it back and even more that he didn’t want to. He was done. This was his resignation to the worst boss ever after putting up with more than he thought he would for him. But true to Sandor, he doubled down and made his feelings clear. No half steps. Just pure rancor.

Knasterreal1 True, yet he was raised to be loyal to House Clegane and to serve the Lannisters.

He was the best character actor in the entire show. It wasn't his dialogue as much as his delivery. PERFECT delivery every time.

I'm not sure the big man actually needed a script 😂👍

Funnily enough, the later Rory got in the series, the more the scriptwriters made Sandor sound like Rory.

F*** the kingsguard. F*** the city. F*** the king! Joffery is like: but but your supposed to protect me.

The hound and Arya are my favourite characters. They were the most iconic duo in the series, loved them.

The Hound: "World is built by the killers" America: Now now, lets not start telling all the truth in one day!

No other character made me laugh as often or as genuinely as he did.

The hound is the Gordon Ramsey of game of thrones

Just play the entire scene of Hound and Arya while she is practicing her dance. It’s one of the few times you see him smile

You should've let the whole scene with Arya practicing roll. It's one of the funniest scenes of the series.

I love Sandor, he completely assisted Sansa and warned of the cruel reality of the Westeros world.

"Are you going to die for some chickens???" "Someone is"..... That was always my favorite scene.....Arya and the Hound Rule....

When Sandor was insulting the brotherhood because they didn't let him gut those guys, he made an even funnier insult in my language, German...it basically said: "Brotherhood without balls"

God, I love The Hound. He never disappointed throughout the series. Favorite character.

"You suck at dying you know" I think that's one of my favorite lines, the hound just goes from wanting to kill him to wanting him to have better last words. I'd love a short comic of the hound sitting down with the guy trying to come up with better last words before the hound kills him.

The Hound in two words: Fearless and Witty. After long consideration, he is my favorite.

Sandor was one of the best characters in this series, better than any of the Starks or anyone else.. he was just savage AF.

While most of the quotes are funny, the scene with Breinne of Tarth was definitely not, it shows the frustration in the Hound's voice telling how Arya has no safe place left for her to go to.

no one can spit out more hate in one insult than this man , the way he insults people is like poetry he pours in every bit of hate and disgust he has in every single word, he spits out every perfectly chosen word as if it is something disgusting.

One of the best character evolution's in the entire show. The actor who played him, Rory McCann, did a fantastic job.

Straight up, the best character in the series... And I'd have to say, one of, if not the best, actor in the series.

They better not kill Sandor in the upcoming season. Man is a savage, westeros needs someone like him.
