Grizzly your fcked and polar you’re done before it even starts really. Not sure on odds with a pizzly but assuming you would just be double fcked.

Then you could take out a second weapon to slash the bear dead while keeping the distance with the spear. Without that, no ammount of fancy will help you

Read a story once of a Grizzly attack on two hunters. The bear ripped one guys arm off (after being stabbed ten times with a Bowie knife). The other guy came in and stabbed the bear ten more times,but also suffered some serious damage. Only the second guy made it out alive in that melee encounter. Long story short… ya don’t want to be close range with a bear lol

Grizzlys are so over powered that it is said that a single swipe can decapitate a moose. So the grizzly could definitely die of its injuries later, however you will most likely die first.

Statistically, the 9mm is more effective than the larger calibers on bear attacks. Most likely this is because you can actually hit the bear multiple times before it gets to you, and it finds something else to do. The problem with the larger calibers seems to be that people shake so bad they miss the first shot, and can't reposition and regrip in time to fire again. The 9mm is smooth enough to get multiple shots off in seconds, and just powerful enough that the bear doesn't ignore it. I got this theory from studying the list of all known bear attacks in the last hundred years.

​@Malilus that's the second worst option. If it gets stuck in a spot that's not vital you're screwed. Same goes with every other weapon but atleast they're less likely to do so, especially the sword. The chain thing is the worst pick obviously. The sword is best bc the sword has been proven to be the most versatile weapon in history, it can be used in reverse grip to grant not only a extra powerful stab as you could do with a spear but also when it penetrates you can pull or push in a certain direction to cut open your opponent. Leaving them with a huge gapping wound.

If you HAVE to choose a melee weapon against a bear, a spear is the best choice. But if it's just you, alone, vs the bear, you're still almost certainly going to lose.

😂 exactly. Except I wouldn't call the spiral spear cool, I've heard they're just generally shit (and they don't really look that impressive to me). Unlike the other weapons- and the whip which reminds me of some video games. The ONLY chance you might have is with the third weapon- and you better hit the right spot... I guess the axe could work too, but I'd never wanna be that risky that close to a bear- might as well have a trench knife or bowie knife.

Modernized melee weapons based on classic war weapons. Something besides guns, especially as a martial arts fan, is appreciated.

​@@AdamMclardyDepends on the bear, but that spear is just designed for looks. To survive the bear attack, you need a longer, lighter weight spear to thrust and poke at it without impaling. Once you impale it, if it doesn't go down, you're dead.

i just watched a video of a guy with his dog trying to chase away a bear, the dog aggravated the bear then retreated back to it's owner who shot it in the face almost point blank. Stopped it for 2 seconds gets back up started charging again. the guy was lucky it happened in front of his house and he didn't stumble while running backwards back into his house
