Damascus isnt great for long blades.... too brittle.... ive used some of the best damascus steel butcher and kitchen knives.... sharpen great and hold an edge like a mother fucker... but any blade made from damascus steel that is longer than 8 inches i personally think is gonna eventually shatter... due to damascus having alot of carbon content... it will become more brittle than something like 5160 tool steel, or T10 tool steel, unless u find a way to trest the steel proper in the forging proccess.... but if u use 5160 tool steel aka spring steel which is what leaf spring suspension in vehicles is made out of u dont even have to fold it likenthe japanese do.... i would do 1 fold just for tradition sake.... but look up a company is missoula montana.... called zombie tools... all of their blades are made of 5160 tool steel great shit for a sword trust me.... pricy.... but seriously worth every penny though damascus is only good for short blades, like boot knives, kitchen knives and shit like that i personally wouldnt make a sword out of damascus steel...

You got a chokuto( straight bladed sword) not a katana. Katana is a Japanese sword with a noticeable curve in it for slashing. And that is not what you have👍

@@johnycash978 that's dumb though. The whole point of an EDC is that it can be used for a whole range of other tasks, not just stabbing people in self-defense. Opening boxes, turning a little screws, just making small adjustments if you need to, and so on. Cleaver is very poorly suited for that. In addition, that's extremely large, and thus much less convenient to carry concealed

Damascus steel isn't that much, really. A machine can pound out and fold a chunk of steel, then dip it in acid for the acid etch on a mass production scale.

Its the United Cutlery "Marine Combat Knife" Ka-Bar clone. Officially licensed by the Marines. Its a piece of shit though. 440A stainless steel is garbage, even for that price. 440C stainless is the bare minmum I'd go for on a mid sized knife.

Honestly, if you're willing to spend $1000 on this stuff, I would say it would be better to take the step up into the next price range with a lot of these items. Quality over quantity. Something like a $500 - $800 sword and a handful of knives and other stuff. That way you'll have stuff that will last longer and overall be more enjoyable to use. That being said, please stop saying this stuff would be a good self-defence option. Nothing you showed here today would be practical in a self-defence situation.

@@laufert7100 that is the name of the product. so that is the fault of the manufacturer, which is a bigger issue. also, I checked the page for the vendor, and it doesn't say the weight of the thing. I had to google it to find out that it is little norther to 2kg. a blade of that length should be 1,6kg at max. I'm sure it handles like shit.

Didn't give us a good enough look to see if it thins out toward the tip. Also I don't think the first thing someone says about a sword is "super Heavy" to be a good sign.

The Honshu broadsword at the end and the polypropylene mace are legit. Had he paid more and bought the good D2 tool steel version of the Spartan Sword and a real Ka-bar he would have had two more quality actually usable weapons. Ditch the M48 axe & scythe shit for a Estwing all steel camping axe.

I bought a Slapper because of this video and this stuff is amazing ;D strong slaps for 25 euro, and nice look.
