Watched this around 2019 when I was just starting in Karate and I stopped when pandemic came in so I forgot how to do it, but I just reenrolled myself lately and trying to learn again. Your voice was still familiar to me most especially the boom on the last one. So I somehow managed to find this video again. Thank you!

Thanks for sharing. That 4th tie is neat. Never seen it done that way. The 1st way was how I did it for karate and the 2nd way in taekwondo. 🥋🥋😃👍

As much chef is death, if he stops to learn and overestimate his acquired skils, so is the martial artists. Too much dogmatisms, too much tradicionalism too muhh of any extreme lead to failure.

I do it completely different to the 4 ways here, but it starts similar to the third way, ends the same way and the middle point is about the same as the first. I grab one end of the belt and from my hip, I drop the tip to my knee. - then wrap the rest of the belt around my waist until both ends are of similar length when holding it out (normally just twice). After that it ends the exact same way as the first. Probably a unique one, but I've been doing it like that for years.

Interesting video. I teach my students the first tie minus the OK trick for smoothing it out. Once they receive their black belt, I explain tie number two due to the fact that the cross in the back is much more noticeable and uncomfortable with the thicker belt. I have never seen the third or forth methods before. Will have to give them a try. Thanks.

  • @SenseiIchi

Thank you for watching, I hope you enjoyed it. In the beginning we teach the younger students to just tie their belt as best as they can. When they get older then we teach them aesthetics. We actually give our students a patch if they are able to tie it on their own, gives them good incentive to practice and be self sufficient.

Starting with one end of the belt in the center of your waist, then wrapping the belt around yourself, then you rotate the belt to your front, then pull one end up and one down, then pretty much tie in the same manner, but without any of the belt hanging, making it look similar to a bowtie.

I enjoyed this video. I do a variation of the 3rd version you showed. I do not do it the way you displayed, however I get the same result. Jiu Jitsu has this thing with the black piece ending up on one side, I never care enough to really look at that lol. I'm what you would call a real slacker in the martial arts community. 😅

@@SenseiIchi The belt can be used in a defensive and offensive manner. A knife to your throat kills you. Most knife and bat have defenses have you trapping the weapon. So, what's the most functional one handed untiable, with quick access to knot to tie for the belt? I'm going to say your not even a martial artist if you don't know that. Sometimes challenging the masters really isn't so bad if your challenging them to become better.

Fader the part when you split the belt after you loop is the most crucial part. Really look and see which belt piece is going up and which is going down. The down piece goes under the whole belt and does all the work.
