Even The Lord Jesus Christ wasn’t accepted (by some) of the people that He grew up with! The Bible says in the sixth chapter of The Book of Mark that when He went back to His hometown of Nazareth that the people who He grew up with “took offense” at Him when He preached in the synagogue. They said, “isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son?” And this is when The Lord said that famous quote “Only in his hometown among his relatives and in his own house is a prophet without honor.” So, you’re right when you say that sometimes it’s best to leave your hometown if you want to be viewed in a different way!

Interesting! The story does ring a bell and it's a very good example of why you sometimes need to go somewhere else

I reinvented myself when I moved from a big house in the suburbs to a condo overlooking the park in the city.

Leaving your home town is simply the one thing that will change your life more that you ever imagined. I went from a medium sized town on the beach in North Carolina to Miami. Then to Manhattan. I'm thinking of London next as my girlfriend, who I met in NYC is French and wants to be closer to home for some time. It will broaden your mind to what is possible in life and you will change for the better. Your career is a great way to make these transition make more sense. Get a job in your industry in another city if possible and the rest will follow.

I always kid my British friends who moved to the states. They’re more British here than they were back in Britain. They really turn it on, I think all the British stereotypes become even more accentuated to further their status here. It works.

I think you made very good points in the video. I must admit that I've been on an image reinvention journey for the last 2 years to reflect the direction where I wish to develop my life. The thing is that I like to dress more formal (smart casual on daily basis for private matter and business casual for office matter) than most people (casual for everything). For example when I worked in a bank financial office everyone at their 30's was wearing button downs and jeans with sneakers while I'd love to show up in a sports jacket, tie, pocket square and penny loafers as a 20 year old. To fit in I'd dress down. Maybe you have some tips on how to adapt in such situations?!

I can definitely relate to your situation there! I work in a different industry to you but in my situation I’ve been around guys wearing a similar style of dress. In your example. I would also where a button down but switch the jeans for chinos or wool pants, and wear your loafers instead of the sneakers. Personally, I have normally kept the blazer for when I’m going out of the office, but everyone will see you in when you’re walking through! Oh and I’d add a pocket square always too. It’s not more ‘formal’ but it shows your flair!

I've considered the name change, but thought it was a huge, "forbidding" step toward my family, but we're not terribly close anyway and I live thousands of miles away. So it isn't, is it?
