4 Key Tips to Find Early Bow Season Success

Jeff Sturgis unpacks some key tips that can help you maximize your early season whitetail success. By applying these strategies to your hunt, you can avoid the October lull, and set yourself up for high-value sits all season long. Hunting summer patterns, and not transitioning to fall habitat, will burn stands and will leave you with minimal opportunities at mature bucks in your area.

I go out on Saturday and Sunday when I have the chance. I can't see not going hunting on the weekend when the season is open just because the weather isn't right

When you have to go you have to go. BUT, if you can play the weather and slant your best sits or stands towards a 1/2 day off with good weather, your odds of success will increase many times over 👍

I waited two weeks after opening day this year for a cold front and I had my target buck broadside at 15 yards 10min after shooting time lol but I saw tons of deer

Biggest problem I've found with Hunting apps, they're not really accurate for local wind directions, weather, or they're like moon guide, based on slanted B/S research that's been proven to have no effect of Buck movement.

All 4 of these are just general hunting tips. Not much valuable info in this if you're looking for info specific to early season.

We don’t bow hunt down here in Ga, and I’m afraid we are getting screwed. We will have mature bucks on camera, watch em for years, and because bow hunters get an entire month before us, we see the taxidermist full of bucks and no more on camera or in the woods.

@@Goofydraw I could on public land I guess. Problem in my situation is my family land is owned currently by 10 different family members and they have all voted to not bow hunt. Because everyone doesn’t bow hunt, they don’t want anyone bow hunting. So I am between a rock and a hard place on that one. I’m not really complaining or mad, just expressing the not so awesome circumstances l am currently facing.

@@liprippingwithblake5613 that’s too bad. Not sure how public land is in GA but you should give it a try. It’s a bigger challenge to get up close and personal. You won’t regret it
