4 Exercises to Fix Internal Snapping Hip Syndrome (Psoas Strengthening)
Спорт
Want to get to the root cause of snapping hip syndrome? Maybe you’re considering surgery but aren’t sure if it’s really necessary?
Coach E and Dr. B discuss the root causes behind snapping hips or iliopsoas tendonitis before diving into 4 exercises that will address the root cause. (Hint: it’s not surgery!)
Today they’re focusing on the internal category of hip snapping, where the iliopsoas skips over the bone in your pelvis, causing you to feel that clunk.
Coach E also demonstrates the Thomas Test. this will show you if you have work to do lengthening your psoas. Shortened or tight iliopsoas muscles tend to be common in people who sit much of the day and women after childbirth.
Next, they’ll show you four easy, at-home exercises to improve control over your psoas and increase the length to get rid of snapping hip syndrome for good.
And don’t forget to stop stretching your hip flexors in the interim.
If you find this helpful, like, subscribe, and tap notify because we’re releasing a new video or two every week. Even if you don’t have the movement concern we’re covering, you’ll still learn something about your body and what you can do to ensure you can keep doing what you love.

I am a sports therapist and have had a clunking left hip whenever I perform leg raises and toe taps etc during Pilates, I have always keep my back pressed into the floor. I did these exercises today whilst watching you both and absolutely no clunking and snapping at all? Normally I have to really over engage my core to prevent excessive snapping. This is amazing, thankyou so much.

I started working out consistently a few months ago and noticed when I do certain leg movements there's a popping in my hip, but only on the left side. I had never noticed it before, it doesn't happen when I walk. This video just happened to pop up on my KZread feed, and I'm so happy it did! That popping hasn't started to lessen since working out, but now I know how to get rid of it for good! Thanks guys!

I experience hypermobility and have been managing snapping hip for a long time. I have tried protocols from doctors, chiropractors, PTs, youtube etc. Stretches and other exercise might work for people who are less mobile than me but I haven't had success yet. What you are offering here is unique, refreshing, and the science/ theory is available by the way you're talking about it. Thank you, I'm looking forward to trying these out.

I told my mother about the clicking sound in my left hip when I was a teenager. She wasn't interested. My Aunt, a seamstress, kept telling me to stand up straight when she was hemming my skirts and dresses. My left side was shorter than my right. A doctor told me when I was also a teen, that one of my shoulders was higher than the other. Nobody ever tried to find out why. Last year, at age 75(!!) I finally learned about snapping hip syndrome. I still don't know the cause, but when in 40's a brilliant exercise teacher/ballet dancer, asked me if I'd ever had a fall as a child. I fell down my grandmother's stairs on my tailbone. Thank you for this video. Why don't more people in medicine and physical therapy know about this? Subscribed. 🙏🏼

I’ve had this snapping hip thing for years, initially it wasn’t causing any pain so although it was unnerving it was just something that happened and I didn’t even try to fix it. Eventually I’m sure I irritated the bursa or gave myself tendinitis by working out and doing exercises how the instructor said to (tilting hips to press the spine into the mat during leg lifts - I think this teacher has Pilates as a background). At this point I can’t do most leg lift exercises without pain and my hip is constantly popping. Found this video last night and did the exercises shown, today no hip pop?? What. Even. Is. This. Magic. I’m sure it’s not ‘fixed’ but this is very encouraging progress. Thank you so so so much you two are angels for sharing your knowledge with us all 🙌

Thanks so much for the vid! I've had a snapping hip since forever and it's a real pain during ab workouts (leg raises etc.). I tried a couple of other videos, but I found the usual focus on stretching not useful, bc my hips/psoas aren't all that tight. But the control and activation exercises here really felt different! I usually try to keep my lower back pressed into the floor during core exercises since that's how it was taught in a Pilates class. But keeping the lordosis and the pelvic floor activated is something that I feel might really make a difference (too early to tell yet). I'll certainly come back to this! Thanks again!

Great!
This is hilarious. I bookmarked this video to do the excersize. I did the Thomas test and my hip would normally snap. It didn't. I asked myself what's happening cuz I haven't done the excersizes yet. But a few weeks ago i had an epiphany about the importance of pelvis awareness. So I'd like to confirm that awareness and control is key

Ive had this for years, a real pain when at the gym doing leg extension work. I'm also finding aching, especially at night, around my trochanter and to the front at my TFL and slightly down my leg. So seems like I need a lot of careful work to do in and around the hip area to decrease inflammation and strengthen the psoas, TFL and glute med. Not surprising, I sit A LOT during the day. Thank you Coach E and Doc B.

That is too long to go with that pain! We are here to help. Check out this program for more ideas on how to address the root cause of your issue: www.precisionmovement.coach/hip-pain-solution-yt - Coach Joshua, Team PM
thanks, coincidently exactly the right video today. One of my patients (treating for neck problems) just aked me today at the end of the session, if I could do something there. She only noticed this a couple days ago. So maybe she can solve her problem on her own and we can focus on the main problem (which of course could be connected to her new problem). 👍

Nice work :)
I love your videos and have been watching for a few years. I really like how you address the problem and not just the symptoms. So what I wonder is, the Psoas seems like it is a very deep muscle and is it really possible to palpate it, and perform MFR? Seems like I can only access abdominal muscles at best. Please explain. Thank you.

Thanks for following along. It is possible to palpate it to a degree when it becomes more superficial. You are correct that you cannot get at the whole thing. - Coach Joshua, Team PM
PLEASE ADD THE EXTERNAL EXERCISEs for Hip clicking. I'm amazed at your knowledge and it gives me hope to conquer hip clicking without surgery. I've tried PT and Roffing. I want to get back to walking or even running.

@@PrecisionMovementCoach Thank you sooo much. I am 67 and in otherwise great shape. I have exercised my whole life but I find that I am limited by what I can do right now. I am walking backwards since I don't get a hip click then. In rolfing, I am learning how to breathe and to get my body in the proper position.
