Your daughter nailed it! Of all the Parks I've visited, this one IS the most enjoyable: because it's so varied, it could have been divided into three separate Parks (the beaches, temperate rain forest and the Olympic Range). In 1974, I came thru with my Mom and Dad - to say they were amazed would be an understatement! In 1998, I was here again with my wife and daughters. We spent 3 days being amazing at the sheer variety X 3! FYI: my second favorite is Glacier NP in Montana! Great to see you two enjoying Olympic so much - I can understand why!!!

Vlogging at its best. Seriously. The rain forest and beach shots are spectacular, even despite the poor weather. I love the interplay of her enthusiasm for the place and your pushing back on that enthusiasm. I've also always loved how in so many of your videos you balance music and dialogue; as well as how you can clearly record an experience without letting that recording lessen your enjoyment of the experience. This video in particular deserves way more than 27K views in 9 months.

Just got back last weekend from our longest family trip to date. We spent 3.5 weeks exploring Washington. That is some state, just incredibly beautiful. It was hard to believe it was real. Started in Seattle, then up to the San Juan Islands (highly recommended), over to the Olympic Peninsula, down to Mt. St. Helens and the surrounding National Forest, quick stop in the Columbia River Gorge, and then finished in Mt. Rainer. We went to all the stops you made in Olympic NP except our weather was quite the opposite. Bluebird skies the entire trip and not a drop of rain the entire time. We all loved Olympic and share your daughter’s opinion of the park. It is definitely up there on my list of top parks visited. Diverse is the word always used to describe Olympic and it rings true. From the wild coastlines to rain forest to the imposing jagged peaks of the mountains, this park was a joy to explore and am so grateful that I got to experience it. So many great stops and experiences. My top highlights were hiking Mt. Storm King (amazing views of Lake Crescent), tidepooling at Rialto Beach/Hole-in-the-Wall and Ruby Beach (so many starfish and anemones), Hurricane Hill, Hoh Rain Forest, and some waterfalls on east side in the National Forest (Murhut Falls and Rocky Brook Falls). We were pretty fortunate Hurricane Ridge re-opened because the visitor center burned down like 2 months prior. Also went to Cape Flattery which is the most northwestern point in the contiguous US and a very beautiful stop as well. So much more but those were my top 5, well I think that was actually 6. Also had some unfortunate luck with some National Forest roads. Made it unscathed but ended being a looooong end to the day. I could on and on but I should stop here as I am becoming long-winded.

Great video, as always! I was just in these same spots the first week of July and it's amazing the difference in weather in just a few weeks. Bright and sunny everyday, and fortunately no rain during our entire trip. The only snow at Hurricane Ridge was on the peaks. The Hoh Rainforest was dry. Altho your Ruby Beach day was a bit sunnier than ours (for a little bit at least haha). Spent a couple days at Mount Rainier in the Paradise entrance and there was still a ton of snow there, but we had blue, sunny skies. PNW really is such a great part of our country.

What a great video to watch on a hot hot hot & humid day here in Pa! I enjoyed Natalie's comments on the "best" national park. Olympic was one of my first NPs out west on roadtrip from New Brunswick NJ (Rutgers Univ.) to Seattle area with stops at the Badlands & Mt Ranier along the way. This was in the late 1970's but I still remember my first view of the Pacific Ocean at Ruby Beach! By the way, check out the most recent offering by one of your fellow vloggers, Tristan & SUV RVing. He also did a nice video on the same area just a couple of days ago. Once again, Kudos to your photography and your daughter's comments.

That was a whirlwind tour! Your hit some great places, thanks for sharing. I went to several places you went to back in the mid 80's and it is still beautiful now. When you go back I would recommend the High Divide Trail up to Seven Lakes Basin, and the trail head is just up the road from Sol Duc Hot Springs, where we soaked off the hike to the High Divide.

Wow you have done it again! This brings back so many wonderful memories. The day we planned to drive to Hurricane Ridge it was very foggy, but at the visitor center they told us it was clear on top so off we went--kind of scary on a mountain road with extremely limited visibility. The fog enveloped us, but suddenly within only a few yards of the top we drove out of it to a stunning view. I have used that story as a sermon illustration (sometimes we just need to trust God and keep going)! We love the hikes to Sol Duc Falls and in Hoh and then Ruby Beach. Like Natalie the diversity and colors touch us. I so look forward to returning one day, so thanks for "taking" me/us back there.

Great job capturing the beauty of this park despite the less than stellar conditions. An even better job showcasing that positive spirit and just enjoying the moment and being out in nature. It can be so trying when things just don’t go your way but you always set such a great example on how to handle it. This park really reminds me of the area around Juneau. The forest, Tongass NF I believe, is also a temperate rainforest. Really a beautiful experience walking in these type of forests. Also, I can’t believe you have had so much luck with air mattresses. We have gone through like 4 or 5 before finally quitting them. One time, we bought a fairly expensive one thinking that might solve our issues. It deflated on the first night. Never again! We switched to Thermarest pads and they have been great.

Glad the mountains were out at Hurricane Ridge for you. So happy for Natalie that she loves our secret National Park. Outstanding Father/Daughter trip. We enjoy Quinault Lodge, beach at Kalaloch, and Crescent Lake. So much more yet for you to explore on your next trip. Ruby Beach is a favorite, parking lot fills fast. @@3091181 Well, the roads are better now, and with the casino money shared among all Washington native tribes, there has been an astonishing improvement of appearances in Neah Bay (on Makah Indian Reservation - northwestern edge of the park, you go there to see Cape Flattery - currently closed) , including a wonderful museum there full of artifacts from Cape Alava (remote beach you have to hike to from Lake Ozette Lake in the National Park where in 1970s we watched university students excavate the Ozette Indian Village Archeological Site circa 1750). most of the sites are the same, except rebuilt Sul Duc Hot Springs, and a much smaller visitor center now at Hoh Rain Forest. Other than that, for the most part: the lakes, forest, rivers, and beaches seem to me the same as what they were in the 1960s. In some cases like at Lake Quinault Lodge, and Lake Crescent, time has stood still. Visitor Center near Port Angeles on the road up to Hurricane Ridge is new since I was a boy.
