    How has it been going for the last 3 years? Is it as effective as a pest control company? I suspect it's even more effective, based on what my PCC company was doing. They wanted to be in and out as quickly as possible so I'm not convinced they were doing the best job possible.

    Hey Monisha, centipedes are definitely one of the bugs that can make you itchy just from seeing them haha. Hopefully this video was able to help you out with some things you can do to help prevent them from getting in and if they do, they don't live long. I also have another video on my channel you can check out where I cover some common entry points for bugs to get in that you may want to check or address once your home is done. Congratulations on the new home! That is a very exciting time. Thank you for subscribing and your feedback. If you need anything just give me a shout and I will try my best to help. Look forward to seeing you around!

    Thank you! I’m renting a basement apartment from a friend and I’ve never seen so many spiders and bugs inside of a home my entire life. I was able to get rid of the spiders but these other bugs I’ve never seen before so have no idea how to treat them. I plan to try Talstar.

    Hey Maria, glad you were able to get rid of the spiders! They were probably there because of the other bugs so definitely want to try to get rid of them so they don't come back! I have found the Talstar to be great. I have been using it for years and I rarely see any bugs in the house and I live right next to the woods. So I am a believer in it and the other products. The Diatomaceous Earth could also be helpful as well! Good luck, let me know how it goes!

    You won’t be able to stop bugs from being in the yard but you can cut down on the number of them. In the video, the granules I spread around the perimeter of my house can also be spread in the rest of the yard. Great info! What do you recommend for house centipedes? Ughhh...i hate them!

  • @HowToHomeDIY

    @HowToHomeDIY

    4 жыл бұрын

    They are some creepy insects! It seems like when you see one of them in the house, there are more. There are 3 products that I use that are in the video that are great for centipedes. The Talstar P I would recommend all around the outside perimeter and entrances to the house. You can also spray it in places that you are seeing them frequently. The Amdro Quick kill lawn granules are good for the outdoors on the lawn around the house for centipedes. Perhaps getting them before they find a way in. Diatomaceous earth is a good one for inside. It is a powder and you can put in places where you are seeing the centipedes frequently. All of these of course cover other bugs as well but they are the 3 in the video that can really work for your particular problem! The Centipedes main food source is other bugs so if you get rid of the other bugs then it will really cut down on them too. Spiders are the same way. Also, centipedes like dark damp areas so just do a quick inspection around your house to confirm nothing is leaking and make sure all ground clutter around the house is cleaned up especially against the house. I hope this helps. Let me know if I can help further. Thank you for watching!

  • @HowToHomeDIY

    @HowToHomeDIY

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey! I treat mine about every 3 months, sometimes more outside during the rainy season. I have a list of all of these products in the description if you want to get an idea for what they are. We have 2 cats of our own, most of the products you see in the video they can't get to as they are in cabinets and what not but when I spray the insecticide at the doors inside, I put the cats in a room for about a half hour or until it dries. In liquid form it could be bad for the cats but once it dries it is safe. But feel free to read about it on the labels of the products. Most of the time the directions will talk about pets as it is an issue people want to stay mindful of! Hope this helps!

  • @HowToHomeDIY

    So none of this will probably kill the spiders as they don't clean themselves so they dont get the insecticide into their system. But it will take care of the centipedes. Typically if you can take care of the other bugs, the spiders will also go down in numbers as they are there for food, which is the other bugs.

    My home is new. And I currently have a Silverfish problem and had a ant problem. I live in N.C. and have a lot of hard red clay dirt in places where sod was not laid. I have very little grass on the side yard of my home. About 2 1/2 months ago... the ants raided my kitchen coming out of the side of my electrical outlets and crawling everywhere! The ants were also on my baseboards in my laundry room & got in our clean clothes I had waiting to fold btw the laundry room is on the 2nd floor. I had to throw the basket of clothes away because the ants were everywhere 😡 ... it hasn't happened again since I sprayed and it's cooled down a bit. I do have ant hills in my front yard and I shook some Sevin dust on them and it's seemed to kill them. My fear is the ants will come back again when it gets hot and invade my home. I honestly couldn't afford a pest control company at the time so I've been trying to figure out what I can do now to help keep my house ant and silverfish free now and when it warms back up. Your video was very helpful. If you have any suggestions... I am all ears 🙂 Thank you.

    This might be a little different. Most if not all the bug advice is usually involving houses!not apartments) I’ve been lining in my place for over 20 years. In the last 6 years I’ve been seeing house centipedes. I do live in an older building built I’ve caulked,,taped!sealed used process of elimination ( plastic covered the windows nothing!plastic the front door, nothing I plastic bathroom,nothing and this was with all clear plastic) and I still keep seeing them. Bought powders!sprays ,glue pads and occasionally I would see them laying around dead. I JUST CANNOT FIND WHERE THY ARE COMING IN FROM!! I finally gave in and called an exterminator last year and then voila!they were gone. The only thong is that every year around the beginning of November is then they start to see them before winter. So when they sprayed in October I was so happy I didn’t see them anymore but i didn’t know because it was approaching November or did they get them. I usually don’t start seeing them til April - June. Yep they freak me out ,I lose sleep and now I’ve seen them this week on the wall. 3 in the last 2 weeks. Help me. I like the spray treatment you’ve shown here. Will it work in my case and where should I spray or do I call the exterminator again. I can’t stand waking up seeing them. They’re nocturnal. Please make videos. I like this one thanks

    Ahh yes centipedes can be a real nuisance! I have found that when I have seen them in the house, once I have sprayed the perimeter of the house and at my doors inside, that I do not see them for a while. Since you are in an apartment you could spray on the inside but if you have any pets or kids you would need to keep them away until the spray had dried. Hope this helps!

    Hopefully they aren't keeping you up at night. Luckily crickets can be controlled fairly easily. The number one goal would of course be to find where they are getting into your house and sealing it up. If they are concentrated in certain areas of your house, the diatomaceous earth and talstar P in this video can be very effective against crickets. You could try treating these main areas with these products and you should start to see results. Hope this helps!
