I use a heat shrink on the peep too, extend it a little bit, and shape it to become a shade (towards bow). Speciality sell something similar for their peeps, but heat shrink works just as well.

You can insert the needle under the extreme turn of the serving and cut the thread along the needle. Before you do serving, wax the bowstring well and put the thread at the end of the winding at the top through the bowstring and the surfing will not move up.

Some good tips. For cleaning excess wax off of the string I have found that rather than using string or serving material that heavy nylon monofilament fishing or garden strimmer line gives a much better result without any risk of abrading the string, it also gives a nice compact smooth and polished surface to the string.

I find something that is most difficult is finding the correct center serving tension when reserving that does not affect the peep at full draw. Ive found better results serving in the same direction that the end servings are already served. Even still sometimes i struggle with too much/too little tension and have peep twist issues in the let-off phase of the draw cycle. Considering you build strings, do you have any tips for center string reserving that will help with this issue?

Yes I have found it also challenging. You need to have the string under high tension when redoing the centre serving. You always serve with the twist. Never against it. So it's supposed to wind up into the direction you are serving. Never wind down into the direction you are serving. Under what tension are you reserving?

Really great tips! Especially the serving string to separate the serving without a razor! I have found instead of using string wax I tried a leather wax called Sno-Seal. It last way longer than all of the other products out there designed for that purpose. I use it exclusively now. Do you make your own string and cables? If you do, what material do you prefer?

I will give it a try thanks! Yes I make strings for Zero Bowstrings We mostly use Bloodline and the a little bit of 452x. Do you make your own?

Oddly enough, most traditional string waxes are similar to sno-seal in their content. They are a comprised of silicone and beeswax.

Doesn’t the heat shrink on the peep add more weight?

It will add a few grains but not enough to make a huge difference. They benefits outweigh the disadvantages

If I could get your opinion on this. I am an old shooter. Have been away from it for over 30 years. I am new to d-loops. We used ropes on our releases. One thing back then we noticed was that when someone melted the end of the release rope, then flattened it with the lighter, that thin flat ball of rope glue would crack after several uses. So why do folks still flatten that ball of rope glue on a d-loop knot? In my opinion, and round ball of melted d loop rope would be strong than a Flattened one. Am I thinking wrong in this?

I remember the rope releases. I also started before d-loops. We used eliminator buttons below the nocks. I am with you. Personally I don't flatten it. I make a small ball and leave it.

Correction depends on what material I use. Number bcy #number 24 I flatten it. But on the #23 I don't. The #23 don't burn so good but n prefer it above the #24 The reason I flatten the # 24 is because it makes a bigger surface area.
