liked your video ! Before this i was thinking making a terrain is going to be really hard but yeah it's not now. Also liked the lotr references haha Maybe it's the video is there somewhere but i'd like to ask, i have 2 acres of land (in the real world) was wondering how do i go about mapping that. Pull and push up the vertices after converting it to a 'editable poly'? I don't intend to make it really accurate but just the basic drops and slopes, borders, place the trees, big boulders. Intent is to landscape it, so i can commission the shire folk to build it for their lord (me).

Wow, the best tutorial I have seen to generate terrain, other people used instead of map, bitmap through a terrain photograph but the result does not look better than with the smoke or noise map, it is better to use as in this case maps and not bitmaps

You can add a plane right through the middle, and another displace or noise modifier to the plane to give it a turbulent water look!

Hi there, sorry I wasn’t quick enough to respond. I actually am not sure how to do that, but more than likely there is probably a modifier that would help with that. Sorry I can’t be more use to you, but I hope you found a solution if you did please reply! So I can pin it in the comments section!

3ds max moved into arnold renderer by default, you need to set "legacy maps" in the renderer options and the textures related will appear to be sepected.

been ut2k4 gaming for 3 years now. mapping and modeling for the last year. kept at changing tga to obj then getting a python script that would match the ase export. your set-up from max to my desktop made an importable ase for unreal's 2k4 editor. that one motion finally makes some big waves in my mesh work for upcoming maps. :) glad I could be a help in owing u one or more. +CloudVision Productions o hey. :) well i was doing the first encounter of serious sam from 1998 for a while and the ut2k4 six disc set came up so i tried it. yeah, croteam was really ahead back then but when atari stepped up unreal99 there were so many scripters and mappers and modelers on the project it seems the whole thing became a world phenomenon. some of the original maps in fact when u go into the editor are entirely comprised of mesh. so the platform is just to add the weapons and vehicles!! not a lot of time on my side to edit as i play and my console is only accessible 4 days of the week. :( there's over 1000 dm maps for instance, so i like to pour over the old material catching up with that one big idea (waves for example) that tie experience with state of the art. :0 hang in there cloud v. There is no way to end with a realistic terrain with this LOD and so smooth slopes. Not even dunes have that profile. May be by adding some displacement mods, many more polygons and a lot of manual tweaking but... Anyway, I do not want to disturb here. I think the title is a bit misleading or confusing. Regards.
