Yes. Nintendo have been forcing some of the best places to remove their Nintendo games.

I bought a New 2DS XL (just before they ceased production) for the sole purpose of modding it. The hack is even easier now. I see you have a C64 on your desk. The Vice3DS emulator turns the 3DS/2DS into a very nice portable C64 with the 2nd screen being utilized for the interface and virtual keyboard.

Make sure you add the Python folder to your path variable - settings - search for path - edit system environment variables. Make sure you check out a video on how to update the settings.

Hi, after completing the Godmode9 finaliser my sd card is not able to be read. Do you have any advice on how to fix this? My Nintendo nor my computer can read it and I’m unsure of how to proceed.

If the card is corrupted you'll need to get a new one and then follow the guide again from the start.

If you download a software like Rufus 4.0 you can probably reformat your drive and make it readable again. Make sure to format it as FAT32 though

I don't use a Mac so don't know what's available. Try searching for a partition manager, or disk manager. The 3DS guide pages should take you through everything. I don't have access to a new 3DS so couldn't show that route.

I did try that and can see luma when the new card is inserted but none of the homebrew or games although all files are there. I followed your steps from finalise to get the homebrew and had to reload all the games. Oddly I can't see my f: drive since formatting the 64gb card to fat32 so not sure what's going on there.

If it's your original SD card I'd probably just use a new one to get more storage space. You should then be able to copy over save files if you need to keep your game progress. To copy the card you might need to use something like the Minitools Partition Wizard. It should let you copy at the partition level rather than just trying the files. To be honest though I haven't tried it.

Make sure you've got Python installed and the path to the Python executable in your system Path. You could try running the terminal window as an administrator just in case there's a permission error. It's strange you got through the first steps though.

32GB use FAT32 with 32KB cluster size. On the menu you can read 3DS as 3DS or 2DS. Choose the matching old/new and version.

Hi, I have been having a problem with luma and have scoured the internet and found nothing. I have the latest checkpoint, home brew and luma however whenever I use cheats my games immediately crash. My 3ds is also fully updated. Do you have any suggestions?

To be honest I haven't used cheats much. I think they can be a bit hit and miss. Make sure you've got the lastest cheat files.

Use the Minitools Partition Wizardto recover the SD card. It needs to be formatted as FAT32 but set the cluster size to 32KB for up to 32GB cards and 64KB for bigger. If you can't get Partition Wizard to see the SD card you might need to replace it.

I honestly don't know. I haven't tried that combination. I suspect (but again don't know) that it will either work as normal or be ignored, but probably won't affect the R4 card. Again this is just a guess!

Try restarting the hack from scratch, including building up the SD card. You may have some things corrupted or missing. Also check out the guide page to see if it has this error covered.

Did you initialise the SD card in the 3DS first. Make sure you run the exploit from the SD card not in the folder on your PC.

I haven't really played with the cheats. I think they can be a bit tricky to set up. You'll need to find a guide to show you how.

I cannot start the Godmode, everything works up until that point, I maintain press start and turn it on but nothing happens, just normal screens. What should I do??

Make sure you've got all the files copied over to the SD card and in the correct places. Try booting into GodMode9 a few times to see if you can get it to boot. If all that fails you'll need to work through the troubleshooting help in the 3DS guide.

Question... I just modded my 3DS and everything is correctly installed now (including the Homebrew Channel). Now, if I copy-paste everything I have in my current SD to a new one and then put the new one into my 3DS, ¿will it load all the homebrew apps fine or it won't work? I'm asking because my current SD has 4GB and I would like to use another one of 32GB, but I don't know if I'll have to go through all the process again if I copy-paste everything from my old SD to a new one.

The exploit I use in this video does need a PC. There are alternatives though which might not. Have a look on the guide page. You onyl need to PC for the initial exploit so if you can borrow a laptop or something to get it installed you'll be fine on Linux or Mac after that.

The stuff on the SD card can just be backed up as normal files - just copy the whole drive to a backup folder. The NAND updates just do the same as in the video to get a new backup.

Hi after I checked if my 3Ds was modded or not (pressing select, while turning it on), it now doesn’t react to any actions on the screen or buttons/pad. It just redirects me to operating aids if I push any buttons. Do you maybe have a solution for that? Sorry if my english is bad.

Check you've put all the files into the correct places and folders on the SD card. There isn;t much else to do. It should work if everything is set up correctly.

You can run a system update to bring it to the latest version.

So, I didn’t mod or hack anything on my DS, but I downloaded 3 games on the Nintendo eShop. Once I did, the game gets sent to settings > Data Management > Nintendo 3DS> then downloadable content. The game is just sitting there and I don’t know how to play it. I have over 22,899 open blocks, and these games are saved software titles. I don’t know how to activate them or use them and they won’t appear on the DS home screen. If anyone knows how I can get these 3 gamed to work, which are “Super Mario Maker” “Super Smash Bros”, and “WarioWare Gold”. Someone please help.

There are converter apps. Just do a search and they will pop up. I think you can also use the GodMode9 app on the 3DS to do it.

hey man I tried reformatting my sd card and retrying the whole tutorial but every time it just keeps being stuck in loading at the extra data section and everytime I tried the sanity test it all came out positive

Make sure the SD card is formatted as FAT32 with the 32KB cluster size. Some SD cards are incompatible. If you've got another try using that.

@@BytesNBits thanks I might try formatting ift to 32 kb cluster size cus I was using an sd card formatted to FAT32 but with 64kb cluster size

@@BytesNBits sadly it still is stuck in an infinite loop, I have tried to follow the instructions on the website and yet I keep getting stuck on the loading screen at the extra data section

for me I just infinitely load on the extra data management menu

It's not something I can advise on but so far I don't think they have gone after any individuals using the software, just those distributing it.

Wipe all partions from the card and hit create, then apply the changes and you should be good

Oddly enough one is almost ready to go live, but it's focussing on the DS.

I have the 11.15.0 do I need to install the update before doing this?

It won't hurt to update, but the hack does replace the firmware anyway with it's own up to date version.

@@BytesNBits thank you for your reply. I just realized I have to unscrew the 3ds and open it just to take the SD card out. I am a software person with severe motor fine coordinations issues I don't like to mess with hardware that isn't a desktop. Desktops have a lot of space to inside so I don't have to fear stabbing the motherboard. the 3ds is going to have everything in one crowded place. I will ask my grandma of anyone else to open it up for me on the weekend. Hopefully it won't be hard.

Who knows if the Nintendo 3D’s XL LL can be hacked (modded) 🙂 ?

Hi I have a question. You said that the console wont use .3ds files, but I have seen a guy use those files to install the game with gm9 (just like FBI with the .cia). Is it because he uses a New 2DS XL? (the video in question: kzread.info/dash/bejne/iq1_tseKm93XqdY.html , timestamp 7.05)

Yes. You can install .3ds files in a range of ways. This video shows the easiest way to get the games onto the system. I do plan to do other videos showing 3ds files but it's on a ever expanding list of todos!

You can format a SD (or pendrive) on Windows in FAT32 using "format" on command line with /FS:FAT32 argument.

it's the bare minimum to download the homebrew stuff but you should definitely upgrade to minimum 16gb to be able to actually store games, recommended would be 32 or 64gb (in the case of 64gb and more you need to format it to FAT32), anything after 200 gb is not recommended tho due to issues with themes and bugs with gba games

Check the write protect switch on the side. If that's OK it might be formatted incorrectly.
