Recently came across your channel, and I must say that I've pretty much used English all my life, both the UK and US variants. However, your UK English slang lessons have been really cracking me up, in a good way. You see, I have a friend in London using slang now and then but I've never been bothered asking her about it. I'm really chuffed now. Thanks !

"The only way to learn English is to spend a lot of money and study in the UK". I take your point but that isn't the way I see it. Today you can practice your language skills by watching a film or a KZread video, sitting on the sofa of your living room. And although the UK standard pronunciation is my favourite, I'm afraid I have to stick to my guns here: the English language has so many varieties that you can learn it with a teacher coming from a different country. Thank you Leila, these lessons about the assertive language are so useful.

Hello Teacher Leila, when I was a secondary school student, our English teacher, Mr. Murphy taught us not to use the word 'nowadays' but 'today ', I'd be grateful if you share your point on this. Thank you.

In what context? An essay? If an academic essay , I’d say don’t use either! They are too vague. Use instead : ‘ over the past five years we have seen a significant increase in the number of people choosing to shop online’. In terms of using ‘nowadays’ or ‘today’ when speaking, neither is really wrong...I suppose he might have said avoid ‘nowadays’ because it’s generally overused 👍😊

Hi Leila. How's things? Awesome 💯 lesson as always. Thanks 1. I take your point but that isn't the way I see it, instead many people are successful and happy yet they don't have a degree🤭 2. True that's a fair point but have to say I disagree with you dogs are more loyal than cats. So they make better pets than cats. Lots of love💛✨
