    I’m seeing that too. Forty years ago I could shoot off of my back porch all day. If my neighbors noticed, they would come over and join in the fun. Those days are gone around here. Air guns , today, are great practice. I’ve had good success analyzing my grip problems ,when pistol shooting ,with air pistol practice. It’s cheap enough to put the time in, and you can do it in the house. Love em’. I’ve been using a Umarex XGB co2 pistol , (with only the co2 muzzle blast, no bbs,) to control sneaky mosquitos in the house. Works better than a swatter. You can also muzzle load patched salt loads for carpenter bees. Don’t use salt in the house.

    A little tip on the balloon board to speed things up. No need to tie them (which takes a lot of time). The balloons do not need to hold their air over the long term, just long enough for you to shoot them. I have a balloon target board that I use for indoor BB gun shooting. Instead of tying them, just twist the end and wrap it through a split drywall insert (you'll need the drywall inserts that are just two "fingers" with a split in the middle). Then push the drywall insert into a hole that you have punched into a piece of cardboard. So the process per balloon is: 1) inflate, 2) twist and hook into drywall insert, 3) push drywall insert into board. It speeds things up considerably. Great video! Looks like a lot of fun!

    Sociopath Mercenary Safe spaces? Having a damn hole in your head isn't a matter of being some whiny little brat who wants mommy and daddy to solve all their problems, it's a serious risk to health.

    2bit MarketAnarchist That was a comment on the lack of self-sufficiency today and the pussification of society. A certain amount of toughness was expected back then because we played in the streets and the woods from dusk til dawn. No cell phones for Mommy to check on us every hour. You pushed your kids out the door and hoped they came back. A 1mm hole that doesn't penetrate into the brain is NOT a serious risk to health. I've pulled nails out of my foot, done my own stitches/staples, and innumerable other repairs with only an up-to-date tetanus vaccine and a can-do attitude. I don't consider that anything special but I was raised in a different time... By a Marine. 😎

    Sociopath Mercenary lol I was given a knife before I could read and told to go play in the woods and creek. Improved standards of safety aren't a bad thing. I'd give my theoretical kid a 760 pumpmaster and an old lockback knife too, but I'd be fucking pissed if after the safety lesson they came home with a hole in their head. I'm currently visiting Cambodia and the other day I saw a boy who couldn't have been more than 12 with his little sister who couldn't have been more than four holding on for dear life as they wove through traffic in Siem Reap on a moped with no helmets. I wouldn't stand for that as a parent, but here it's par for the course.

  • @sociopathmercenary

    @sociopathmercenary

    6 жыл бұрын

    2bit MarketAnarchist Totally understand wanting your kid to be safe and I don't think our parents were actually trying to kill us. LOL I got all the safety lessons too and I'm sure someone got their ass beat over the hole in the head incident when the Dad's got home. Not me on that one though.... My Dad was very particular about gun safety. When he was 14, his little brother shot him with a rifle he thought was empty... In the arm, out the shoulder, and through the neck. He was left with only one vocal cord and voice sounded like gravel being poured down a chute. Most parents are way overprotective these days though. Despite media reporting on every bad thing that happens anywhere in they world within seconds, we live in the safest and most prosperous era in human history. Even so, the world is not a safe place. It's a parents job to give their kids the tools, knowledge, and responsibility to survive... Then let them live. Some of them won't make it and that's a tragedy but you need risk to truly appreciate life IMO. It is shocking to see the societal differences in other countries. Not too different here though... I see big men on loud bikes with no helmets and half-naked little girls hanging in for dear life all the time and shake my head. The only difference is that our children are in their 40s and have no damn excuse.

    Brought back memories. Use to shoot the darts in my break barrel Webley. Lots of fun. I also shot darts that had plastic stabilizer instead of the "fuzz". As I remember they were slightly larger on the fin then the metal of the dart. They seemed to catch the rifling. Not even sure if they are still made.

    At the risk of contributing to a certain youthful delinquency that those with a genetically based fascination for projectile weapons are prone to, with your permission, I would like to offer a suggestion. Homemade bamboo darts! By cutting commons bamboo skewers to a convenient length, and twisting cotton onto the rear end like a cotton swab, cheap and effective darts can be made. Spin the shaft in the direction of the rifling twist, to assure the cotton remains in place. A drop of silicone chamber oil helps keep things tight and slick. They work great in co2 pistols when they are loaded from the muzzle. Three to four inch darts are about as accurate as those metal ones. (Maybe more so.) They are wicked nasty. Not for kids and a load of fun, and cheap! I’m sure they could be easily fashioned to work in the cylinder of your Dan Wesson, but I don’t know if they would be long enough to stabilize in flight. I sure would like to find out. Shooting them with the same discipline required as conventional firearms, friendly competitive shooting events can ensue with an element of chance involved.

    It'd be cool to see just how far these would go into a ballistic target if unimpeded by the wood. Obviously this isn't as good as a real gun for self defense but if you were in a gun free zone this might be a good alternative assuming it can meet FBI ballistic penetration standards.

    Nice video... Looks like a lot of fun. =) By the way, they do this type of CO2 replicas in 8 inches too and both pellets and steel BBs variants. The only differences are the fact that on the BBs version, the barrel is smooth and you fit the BBs by the front of the fake b~~lets when you load them. Personally I'd rather use the BB's one due to its smooth barrel that would be less likely to be worn and damaged over time by the dart. Plus I think the fake b~~lets for the pellets would fit the BB g~n. So such combo could be a great setup for a dart g~n.

    Can you load those cartridges from the rear, too? If not, that would be a problem because the darts won’t want to load tail first.

    TWANGnBANG ASG does many different .357 replicas in .177/4.5mm steel BB or lead pellets. They all use fake rounds but whether you load the ammo (ie the pellet or BB) from the front or from behind of the fake round is model specific. But considering most of these ASG Dan Wesson replicas are .357 replicas, I wouldn't be surprised if the fake rounds from this 715 pellet model were to fit in the other models of the range, or if it would even fit the BB version of this 715 (that incidentally loads from the front). In any case, spare fake rounds are easy to find, so it could be worth trying. Otherwise there are some other brands that do .177 steel BB airguns with fake shells that load from the back. Umarex does a 45 Colt Single Army replica for example. Anyway the point here is I think the dart might wear out the rifling of the barrel over a long time. So a smooth barrel would be more suitable and equally as much fun when back to using BB or pellets.

    Not at all. As I previously mentioned, I'm dealing with a lot of medical drama in my family right now and just can't get to the range like I could. If you haven't noticed, I haven't even made a new video in a month. I will be doing a lot more videos on products I can test and feature at home for the foreseeable future.
