1969 Dodge Dart, 354 Hemi bored.040. A833 4 speed, 8 3/4 rear with 3.91 gears. Car was built as a cruiser only.

Cruiser yes, but it will fly. That’s close to 400 horse in 2200 # Car.

Had a 354 we put it in a 65 Belvedere. Love your Dart though. It is well done in great taste.

Really nice !!! I have a 67 Coronet with an early 392 . I get some negative nancy's about it at times , I say that it's the engine that it SHOULD HAVE HAD ANYWAY . Chrysler bean counters ( 1959 ) " We can't afford to make hemi heads but we can afford to make super exotic intake and exhaust manifolds to try and make a wedge engine do what a 392 does " . Larger displacement , higher compression , hemi heads ( 426 ) ... none of these ever matched the early Chrysler Firepower engines as a daily street driver. Early hemi's had farmers for racing development , the 426 had ivy school grads and computer scientists.

It drives better then you'd think. Maybe a youngster thats used to a new car with an automatic trans might have a problem but it's perfect for an old school guy like me.

Got a question for you?!? those look like the 9776 450 cfm holleys.. Have you had good luck with them? I have been reading people upgrade the accelerator pumps to 50cc's just wondering if you left yours stock and how they are doing. Sweet old MOPAR!

I used the stock pan modified to hold two more quarts of oil. The headers are custom made.

THAT IS 1 AWESOME WORK OF ART! WHEN I WAS GROWING UP A NIEGHBOR THAT PUT A 354 IN A '65 VALIANT CONVERTIBLE. HE MOUNTED THE DIFF UNDER THE LEAF SPRINGS AND IT KEPT SPINNING THE PINION INTO THE FLOOR WHEN HE GOT ON IT. HE MADE A CUSTOM HOOD TO FIT THE ENGINE WITH A STOCK 4BbL CARB. HOW DID YOU GET IT SO LOW IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT HITH A HIGH RISE?

Modified small block motor mounts and a lot of trial fittings.I'm running the super stock rear leafs with s pinion snubber. Even though the car is a cruiser. I still get the happy foot evrry now and then.

joek19522 its nice.Used to annoy the police with a 59' Fury 2dr.HT with that motor.Kept killing the early T-flite.And no hi stall converter was not fun.Had 2x4bbl on a Weiand lo-rise.Very strong rascal! Must have been makin good numbers,kept welding up all the plates in the hi gear drum in the Flite!!

We've all seen those beautiful high dollar builds that we dream of owning. This project was to see what an average every day working guy could build on a tight budget. Racing car was out of the question but i thought a fun cruiser was doable. While it was stilll not cheap I'm satified with how it turned out. Thins like electric fans and aluminum radiator or electric power steering can be added as time and funds allow. But in the mean time i get to enjiy driving it.

Why not roast the tires?
