I think black cars with all around limo tints looks terrible. IMO the front driver and passenger sides should have a lighter tint. The different shades of tint from front to back gives the vehicle more style and character. It doesn't make an all black car look like a huge black block on wheels

Pro-tip: If your tint is too dark according to the law, roll your windows down at least part way so that the police can see inside of the vehicle during a traffic stop, especially at night. The officer will appreciate that and you'll be less likely to get a ticket for your tint. We don't like walking up on a car and having no idea how many occupants are in the vehicle or what they're doing.

My city has recently been experiencing a heatwave, and I generally park my car out in the sun, both at home and at work. After consistently having to start my car and let it run for a few minutes before getting in myself so I don't boil to death, I resented and scheduled a tinting at a shop near my work, which is going to be 6 days from now. Yes. 20% tint lets 20% of the light in, converting from % to normal numbers 20% by dividing it by 100 which is 0.2. Then when you stack 20% ontop of 20%, its only letting 20% of 20% of light get through. You can find the amount of light getting in by multiplying 0.2 by 0.2. Which is 0.04, multiply this by 100 to get a % again and you have 4%. Thats why i find double 5% is so stupid. Its literally 0.05*0.05 = 0.0025% visibility lol. @@user-ii3cp7ot3s

I have done this on 2 of my vehicles and I really like it. I do 5% on the sides and back, 20% on the windshield with 5% Shade band and I love it. I live in FL so it really helps with the sun and glare. I haven't been pulled over for just my tint, but if I do get stopped I make sure I put all the windows down so the officer can see into my vehicle and have never had a issue.

I think 20% tint all the way around looks the best. Not too dark, not too light... Perfect.

Great video. Thanks for showing the inside too. Most videos don't do that. I have a Dart GT that I want to tint to 35%, so the fact that you showed the same car @ 35% was great! I now have a much better idea of what it will look like.

5% means that only 5% of the suns uv rays are getting in. I have double 5(0%)all the way around and 15% on the windshield. Shits perfect but I wouldn’t start out that dark. I started at 5% and 20% on the windshield and worked my way down as my eyes adjusted overtime:)

Getting pulled over for tint is like getting pulled over for an air freshener hanging from your rear view mirror/obstructing windshield; they, for whatever reason, think you're suspicious and that they can find something else to get you a ticket (inspection, registration, drugs, warrant, etc). Plenty of agencies do in fact have ticket quotas- and that increases the likelihood of bullshit traffic stops.

This was a great video and like you said it does depend on where you live if the cop wants to mess with you or not . My front windshield is 15% and the rest is 5% all the way around . Never got stopped but it’s common here in Vegas though . A cop in Long Beach parked right next to me and he was questioning me on my tint I told him I was from out of town just visiting . He actually cut me a break and told me next time just get a rental lol

This was honestly really helped I think I understand the percentage of the window tints now, I thought was 35% darker and 5% was lighter, I live in NJ they’re very strict here with tint so I’m gonna get 35 % tint lol thank you seriously

I left the front windshield untouched with no tint. 20% on my front driver and passenger, 5% on my rear driver and passenger, and 20% again on my rear windshield. The logic was I wanted to keep the sun from frying the side of my face, I went dark in the back purely because they are my “privacy” windows and 20% on rear windshield so I can at least see when I back up. 16’ Ford Taurus.

@@roz99999 night time is enough to make you go “goddamn👨🏻‍🦯” but definitely tolerable. But where it really shines (or doesn’t) is in the afternoon driving home from work and the sun not beating up your face but definitely enough to keep people from seeing you. I honestly wish I would have gone a little darker in the rear but it’s enough to keep other peoples lights from bothering you in the mirror 💁🏻. And ultimately…it looks great🤷🏻

5% in the front means you have to roll your windows down when you backup. I have 15% and its easy to see you and can barely see inside on the outside during the day, at night it looks just like 5%

I think another big mention for tint factor is your windshield. The amount of light that comes in from your windshield really affects how visible you are behind X tint type for your other windows. So 20% tint all around on my F150 vs it's big/tall windshield is a lot more visible inside than it is on my Supra, which has a very small windshield at a steep angle/lets far less light into the cabin. Also if you get pulled over and are tinted, its always a good idea to immediately turn on the interior light. It makes it easier to see you and they will be less likely to notice or give you shit about it.

Yes I have a Mazda and the interior is really unique in the windshield is very close to the front seats you can touch it without even leaning forward so it makes tint look less dark.

There is one HUGE plus for tinted cars. I have 5% on my st and drive in the dark a lot and headlights don’t blind you from the back. I had a big problem with this and it really used to bug me until I got 5%. Disadvantage is that it’s hard to see unlit places and if it’s dark and some dumbass dosen’t have their headlights on there’s no way you can see them. If it’s at that point where its just getting dark and people just don’t turn their headlights on for whatever reason.

Same, I have 5% on my Mazda and I’m used to rolling down the windows for dummies with no headlights on at night, very dangerous if you’re not careful.

Awesome video. Helped me out a lot. Decided to go for 20% all around.

Do it. I have double 5 (0%) all the way around and 10% on the shield. Shits perfect ! But I wouldn’t start out that dark. I started with 5% and 20% on the windshield and worked my way down as my eyes adjusted overtime:)

Great video. Thinking of doing 35 all around just to make the car look sharper and to keep the sun out some, and also for added privacy. 20 wouldn’t pass inspection.

As far as I know, some places only have laws restricting the tint percentage of front windows. Personally, I don't really mind if people outside can see me; I'm getting the tint just to prevent my car from heating up like a sauna room when I park at my work place during the day in summer 🙃

@@804MRMAN Actually, I’m in Canada lol. At least in Ontario, the law only requires front windows to be higher than 35%, and the front windshield cannot be tinted at all (for newer vehicles). As for the other ones, you can tint them as dark as you want.

Thank you for posting this I'm looking for tempting for my house I don't want anyone looking in at all darker the better I don't want to be bothered with curtains or blinds so I'm going tinting all the way around my house for the windows thanks once again just thought I'd let you know so other people might have the same ideal tempting is not just for cars

I agree with your logic. I currently have 2020 Ford F350 Dually, and did clear tint windshield - Air 80 and 30 front, 15 rear and 15 back. I find it very hard to back up at night and changing lanes is much harder during dark. I just ordered 2022 Ford and am going to still do Air 80 for windshield may do 35 all the front and rear.. and for back windshiled - may do 35 , 30 or 25

I got 5 per cent on my 3 back windows and i cant see at night AT ALL . It's super dangerous and i have to get it removed and replaced with something lighter I didn't know i wouldn't be able to see at night time. Imma used to checking my mirror constantly and all you see with 5 percent is pure darkness at night. I'm getting it redone tomorrow because at this point i cant leave my house at night because i can't see and don't want to risk an accident

Great comparison. Many other videos will have 1 car with each window tinted different. Having all of them the same tint makes the difference much more noticeable.

Got 5s in the back and 15s in the front. Looks amazing, I would highly recommend especially if you have bigger windows

Thanks for showing this. May I ask if it was fairly cloudy the day of the video? The local companies only have 80, 40 and 15 ceramic tint in the area I am. (They have 55,33,26 and 15 in standard tint) I really want to go ceramic to see if it works but the choices are limited. I believe my other cars are 33 front, 26 rear. Seems like a 40/15 would be a huge contrast. I don't think I want 15 all around but think 40 may be too light. Your video was a big help in this difficult decision. I'm leaning towards 40 all around for my new Desert Bronze Hyundai. (The color is also hard to match) Shouldn't be to much lighter than the 35 you show here.

This video worked out well as I was explaining a time I was pulled over in NY for my tints being too dark (I had 35%). I have reason to believe some other reasons existed why I was pulled over given he asked me to step out of car and also said he smelled something funky in my car and asked if I had drugs on me) but I digress.

Thanks for the upload, I'm trying to figure out what tint I'm getting tomorrow for my new car. I like not having any tint because I had 5% on a 4 door car in wa state for 14 years which is illegal. I was pulled over and got into accidents in that car and the cops never noticed the tint! However I was in an accident because I couldn't see out well, so be forewarned. Driving at night with 5% can be a death trap though. When it's late at night in rain and fog, it's not easy to see out to be honest. So just remember it can be dangerous to go to 5% for some people. I'm trying not to make the same mistake again on the new ride.

I have 18% ceramic on sides and back and 40% on the windshield. No problems seeing at all even on dark roads with no streetlights. I put a set of the led strips in the back seat just in case I pass a cop. You can see inside the car pretty well at night from a distance so I should be good.

I have a 2013 Venza, I put 5% over the factory 20% It's an S.U.V so It's more acceptable, and yes I also did the same for the front windows, I put 20% originally on the front, but I regret not having 5% so I put another layer of 5%. There is an advantage to having a S.U.V because the rear ones come default. I used to get pulled over often when I had a Corolla and it had 5%, this one is darker but I'm good.

I really like my 20. I’ve gotten that on a few cars and it’s really nice. no problems see out at night either.

Great video. We are going to tint the windows on our bus conversion and we wanted to go as dark as we could so it will be 5% for sure.

Big Warning when it comes to 5%, driving at night can get pretty sketchy if you cant see too well out of your rear view. During the day I dont have any issues, but it took some getting used to.

When I was a teenager I used to do 35% and put 2% instacling over it!
