The time has finally come to harvest my first pot of first early potatoes. There is always some trepidation involved. Will there be potatoes? What size will they be? How many will there be? Will they be clean and disease free? Time to find out. By the way, if you like my chicken hoodie, you can find it in my shop.

Hi , any harvest is a good harvest because they always taste better. Right I'm off to water the potatoes after watching this.

I would be very happy with those Mags. Moisture content is key to getting all the potatoes to a good size so water more regularly than you are at the moment if you want bigger spuds. An excellent harvest in my eyes, main crop will give you the best results, but anything is better than nothing. ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.

Hi Terry. I think the really drying wi do we have had here haven’t helped. I’m making sure I keep on top of the watering now that’s for sure.

Not bad at all! Always say if I end up with more potatoes than I planted, that's good! I'd be happy with that. Well done Mags.

I don't make home made chips and am not into the huge spuds that so many of the 'reveal' KZreadrs seem to be after. These are just perfect for my potato salads/steamed or roast potatoes and the wee ones I'd be throwing in soups or stews. Love it and will be over the moon if I do half as well from my first effort here in Australia.👌👌👏👏💕💕

Yes, the little ones are very tasty so do get eaten. I do like the average size to be slightly larger than these ones were. My next couple of pots have been more to my liking 😊. Good luck with your potatoes. Mags.

Great minds think alike. I did my first bucket of spuds today. Only got a couple of pounds but more than enough for a couple of meals for one so I’m happy. Off to make some home made potato salad with all the little nippy ones.

Well I'm new to potatoes this year. I might have early blight and be yanking. I have to analyze today, now that the weather has cleared. We went from stupid hot and dry to wet and humid. Will probably pull if it looks like it as not to risk other plants. I love potatoes at the size you harvested.

Hi there. Yup I think you could go with less than that but will be interested to see your harvest. I’m sure it will be good. You may get lots of smaller potatoes rather than fewer larger ones. It’s great fun harvesting them in any case.

Hi, I dug some of our early potatoes last week and were surprised by the size. You got a nice harvest from that first pot. Perhaps the dry compost helps keep the slugs and snails away.
