My Garden and the Dinosaurs Who Live There

My Garden and the Dinosaurs Who Live There

Welcome to my garden in central Scotland where I grow all sorts of plants, fruit, veg and flowers. Oh, and I also keep bees, quail and chickens aka my little dinosaurs. Through this channel I will take a light-hearted and informative look at the trials and tribulations and complete and utter joy of gardening, as well as look at keeping chickens and quail as pets and for eggs, and bees for honey.

I moved to my current home in 2022 and am basically creating the garden from an overgrow and neglected mess to something that is both productive and an oasis of calm. Prior to this I was in the west of Scotland where I built my garden from scratch. I have learned how to garden through practical experience and experimentation. I have made lots of mistakes along the way but also have had my fair share of success. My chickens regularly feature in my videos, as well as making impromptu appearances. I can’t tell you how much fun it is to have them around. Please come and join me.

With the seasons seemingly getting longer, I'm going to try sowing a few seeds that I wouldn't normally - like dwarf beans.

  • @mygardenanddinosaurs

I’m already seeing germination of the beans so that’s a start 😊. Will I get a harvest - who knows. I’m banking on a long drawn out transition from Summer to Autumn.

Looks good Mags I’d like to have my vegepods closer 😂 but they’d take up the entire patio. It is still stupidly hot here it was 34c last night at 7pm. I know when it’s raining constantly that sounds lovely but it’s way too hot for plants or me. Oh great choice I sowed bush beans the other day too in my squash pots. I find bush beans are like spring onions I just dot them in everything too. I can never get my lettuce to that stage in starters so I am direct sowing them. Great video Mags have a super day, Ali 🌞🥵🇨🇦

Hi Mags, Your trough is going to look fabulous in just a few weeks once everything has germinated. It will be so handy close to the house for easy pickings or that quick dash if the rain continues!!!!😆 I, too, have been sowing some more salad crops this morning...fingers crossed, we get something that resembles summer over the coming weeks so that we can enjoy them. Happy gardening, my friend. Take care, Annie 🐞 🐝 🌱

I don't make home made chips and am not into the huge spuds that so many of the 'reveal' KZreadrs seem to be after. These are just perfect for my potato salads/steamed or roast potatoes and the wee ones I'd be throwing in soups or stews. Love it and will be over the moon if I do half as well from my first effort here in Australia.👌👌👏👏💕💕

Litt;le spuddy pearls! You need Terry's loo brush scrubber! Strong calabrese plants and LOL - I thought you had buried treasure underneath! I've stuck peppermint teabags (organic and paper bags so compost eventually) down mouse and vole holes - seemed to work too! Your gigantes are looking fab, mine are just half-way up, surrounded by sheep fleece and the blinking crows have pulled away some fleece to assist the slugs - because the wind blew the protective netting off! Beautiful garden Mags.

Odd you didn’t get more sideshoots on the broccoli 🥦 but girls will be happy. Oh goòd tip on the mint 👍. My onions didn’t do well this year nor my garlic.
