    Wonderful harvest. Think about the cost savings instead of going to a store to buy bags of potatoes for meals. I planted potatoes a few years ago in 3 large patio containers and a 4'x4' raised in ground square area. Got a nice harvest. That was the year I purchased a broad fork. The seed potatoes were from Big R which changed to Stock and Field, which is now called Runnings...these companies are a trip with name changes!😂 This year I just did a bunch of onions and they're doing good...coming along nicely. Hope to get some big bulbs when they're ready. Happy harvesting, Kim!

    Do you use the greenish potatoes that you pulled out of the fabric pots?

  • @HangingwithKim

    @HangingwithKim

    19 күн бұрын

    No greenish potatoes during this harvest. If I see potatoes on top of the soil, I cover them with straw mulch so that they don't turn green. If you get green potatoes, you can peel the skin off and use them. The green skins can upset your stomach.

    I purchased all my seed potatoes from the Maine Potato Lady. I ordered in December, and they arrived in March. I will replant some of the current years crop if they start growing sprouts(eyes). I store my harvest downstairs in my basement, where it's a little cooler that will protect them and preserve them longer.

  • @HangingwithKim

    @HangingwithKim

    I think it has a very middle of of the road potato taste, but its the texture that I like so well. It holds its shape better when it's being cooked and canned. I use them for roasting, stewing, and mashing.
