A very rare sight for the north west Crompton West Coast Railways Class 33 locomotive 33207 "Tim Martin" dragging steam locomotive SR Merchant Navy Class 35018 "British India Line" north along the west coast main line and through Springs Branch south of Wigan on the afternoon of Tuesday 11th June 2024.
The classic diesal was dragging the steam engine & a rake of MK1 coaches from Southall to Carnforth running extremely early despite being held for a spell. The steam engine had made an appearance at Swanage Railway's Strictly Bulleid II event this past weekend.
Luckily for me she was dumped on the slows as booked behind the Manchester to Wigan northern 331 or id of missed it having almost been caught out by the early running. Glad to catch my first sighting of the 33 leading which you can barely here over the kettle.
