SOWING CARROTS IN CONTAINERS 🌻 TAKING TOMATO CUTTINGS. Sowing carrots in containers has many benefits. Small containers can be moved to suit available space. The quality of soil in the containers can be controlled. By raising the container height reduces the risk of carrot root fly attacks. We also take Tomato cuttings in an attempt to rescue plants that have gone leggy. Runner and French beans are started to chit on damp kitchen roll and we prick out some Pot Leeks kindly donated by another plot holder. Sit back and ENJOY!!!

Hello Nigel. Another informative video. Yes enjoyed watching. Those peppers looking good. You are obviously looking after that pigeon really well. You will have it talking soon. I think that any waif and stray that came to you, you would look after. Take care, keep safe and keep smiling. Cheers. Pete.
Hi Nigel, once again I love your OCD with the way you plant things. Its inspirational. Good luck with your carrots. Cheers
Lovely video again Nigel, thanks for sharing mate 😀 have a good weekend and stay safe David 👍👍
Busy time of the season Nigel and my tender plants are still very small. Will start my beans in a weeks time. ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.
i was lucky enough to get hold of my favourite carrots. " sweet candle ". i'm now considering another couple of deep beds for the polytunnel. other project to sort first..................brian
Nice video again Nigel ,
👍👍👍, Nice one Nigel, Take care
Hi Nigel, great video with plent of useful infotmation on growing carrot seeds. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
Nice one Nigel thanks.
Loving your new little pidgey, so cute 😍
Omg when you got to the part putting the vermiculite on I though how many seeds has he put in the hole lol I'm going bind ha ha ha good luck with the carrots mate Alan
I do that with my hydrangea cutting, rooting powder and cut down the leaves to half. 😂😂 is that what you call a carrot container 🤦🏼♀️. Well you definitely have a new life long friend Nigel. Have a super week, Ali 🌞🇨🇦
You're always such a neat and tidy gardener (something I can only dream of 😄) , it's a pleasure to watch 🙂
Hello mate never seen tomatoes done from cuttings. I think you have got the pigeon for good now 🤣. A nice job with the carrot beds. All the best Nic 🥕🌶️🧅👍
Can't wait for the next one.
Nice one buddy. I've found with lanky toms that they sort themselves out once they are planted in their final pots etc. Nice and mild here now so all of mine are outdoors along with the peppers and chillies (at last LOL) I've had shocking germination with my Ishikura spring onions this year - my old seed has done better than the new packet from DT Brown - weird.
nice video nigel
Great video! Thank you Nigel! :)
Hi Nigel, Nothing beats this time of the year for growing.. it’s when I miss my plot.. but when I get chance I’ll get some toms in the garden.. along with a few other favourites, great video mate.. I have some catching up to do , all the best Rob 👍
So look forward to your video’s .interesting and always very helpful thank you
Thanks Nigel I’m going to try sowing my carrots in a box this year , hoping I’ll be successful with my harvest. Appreciate your advise 👍
I do that with mine to make more plant's, i also use the sideshoots to grow on, instead of just disgarding them..
Nice one nigel great video as always I've seen people use honey for cuttings I just use the cheap powder I find they work the best for me
Thank you Nigel I particularly enjoyed that episode. I use those Haws watering cans, nothing else comes close to their quality, they are a joy to use, I think they are the finest way to keep a seed bed watered! I wish England would build more stuff. I remember a time when most of the equipment in a machine shop was stamped made in England and now it’s all foreign made😢. Could you please tell me the spacing you have between carrots 🥕. I think I could adopt something similar to that in my carrot bed this year. Klaus
Tomato cuttings. I just sit them in a glass of water for a week or two. The roots will form and when I think they have enough roots I pot them. Works every time.
Hello Nigel, I find that if tomato cuttings are placed in a jar of water, they produce roots, which can be potted on.
I love watching your videos, most helpful growing youtube! Showing step by step with calm voice! Lots of love all the way from South Korea! ❤❤
Hi Nigel your carrot boxes are something we are both thinking about we grow in buckets at moment but looking at doing a permanent box like yours. Great video by the way .

Hello both, if you have a friendly plumber nearby, ask about loft water tanks. These are surplus when fitting combi boilers. nice and sturdy and ideal for carrots👍
I think that I need to re sow my carrots that I have sown, I think the snails have eaten them all lol
Hi Nigel enjoyed your video again very informative love how tidy you work my tomato plants are only a couple of inches high do you give them any hope? Is it to late to start tomato seeds now? Novice from Shropshire 😊 hugs
Hi Nigel thanks for the info, with carrots could I grow them in large buckets and if so what sort of compost should I use please ? Thanks Andy
Where did you get your grid? From? Looks very useful.
1:25 Are those 6 cell trays robust thick plastic? They look it. Where do you get them? Or are they the cheap thin plastic kind?
Hi Nigel, how deep are your carrot tanks? How deep do they have to be for carrots?

Hello Mavis. The depth really depends on the carrot variety. Sweet candle… 15-18inches deep to produce a decent size/shape carrot. My tanks are 36x24inches and 18 inches deep
