3000WHP R35 GT-R | Alpha G To ETS-G | ETS [TECH TALK]

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

What goes into a 3000WHP (that’s right, WHP!) drag car?
Ultra knowledgeable JR from Extreme Turbo Systems gives us the rundown on the ex-AMS run ‘Alpha G’ car and the changes they have made to turn it into the ETS-G which is still piloted by Gidi Chamdi. This interview from TX2K covers so many topics it’s difficult to mention even half of it in the description.
The Syvecs ECU controlled car runs a similar twin Precision Turbo 8685 turbocharged Nissan VR38 setup to the 3050WHP silver ETS GTR which will now focus on ½ mile racing, leaving the ETS-G to focus on the ¼ and shoot for the R35 world record later in the year. JR gives us some insight into ¼ mile and ½ mile drag racing setups and how as cars get faster the differences become larger for suspension, fueling, aero and weight considerations between the distances.
Also discussed are the considerations that go into turbo selection for a drag racing application, the Nissan GTRs dual clutch system in relation to launching, and we gain some great insight into how the 300HP that is directed to the front of the car helps keep the car pointing in the right direction and also maintains traction if and when required.
To put your mind at ease, this GT-R in fresh build form did a 7-second pass right off the trailer and managed to run 6.73 @ 223 mphs making it the fastest car at TX2K 2019.

Because most people want to be entertained. I am entertained by learning. Boost control is critical in the small engine market. As of now my car spins the slicks and I only get ignition cut outside the zone where the car was launch before on the small stock turbo. Now I get 1.9/2.0 60 ft when I used to get 1.7x without trying hard, stock suspension. I need to make boost in the area where I only get fuel cut with the factory pcm. Also to run over 30 psi reliably I need to upgrade the sensors. If they are the wrong voltage range they won't work properly with the stock pcm. Nevermind options like using one or more boost control solenoids to have a wide range of boost to for launch and max power. It also eliminates a separate control system for additional injectors. All things the Focus need to make more than 400 hp.

I love this channel and really appreciate all the hard work and effort that goes into the content. There is so much in depth information and it's always on point. I work on GTR's every day and found the strategies implemented for both launch and traction control very insightful. Syvec's really is a very powerful and very quick stand alone. It was interesting to hear that even though these cars can pull the front wheels on launch the 4WD will still give you 2 10ths to the 60ft, something I had always wondered about but had never seen any data. This and the Andy Forrest WTA interview are my favourite video's on this channel. Keep up the great work HP Academy.

He didn't tell you how to do it. Syvecc is not in regular use on street builds and even then they aren't using even a 1/3rd of it's capacity. They are mostly used for rally and circuit racing aka 24hrs of Le Mans. They have the best knock control system I've heard of. It will allow me to see the full potential of my build full stop without making my own harness.

  • @AkeemWalters

I think it's because of the lack of weight (force) pressing down on the front tire. Friction is a product of the coefficient of friction (tire material and contact area) and the normal force acting on it. As the force on the front tire reduces, you must compensate with a stickier and wider tire to maintain the same amount of grip. That's my theory.

I'd believe it, you'd see enough to satisfy professional curiosity without having to crack the engine open. People like JR obviously enjoy the challenge of the whole journey as you 100% can't drop as many knowledge bombs off the cuff if you're following someone elses path and not your own ;) - Taz.

JR is 110% a stand up guy and honest AF. Anyone that's met him let alone does business with him knows this.

JR is the man. I am sure it is not easy to give enough information to satisfy the interview yet still hold back some of the secrets as to why they are so quick.

Alpha OMEGA was better. It was still an actual car. Alpha X cars are better as they are also still cars. Boostin/T1R makes some GTRs that are also still street cars, which are better too.

*Subjectively better ;) Keep an eye out for the next iteration of the ETS Silver GTR. Sounds like something you'll be interested in given what JR said in this interview about it - Taz.
