What a cool guy damn

Here's a man I'd love to meet! Also raised in CT- digging in old dumps in the woods, building forts and hacking around in creeks. Years later and through several state, I'm still hacking around in the mud, checking out old dumps for bottles- or anything. So many things to find if you just look. And the best history lessons are the ones you can hold in your hands. Cheers from Maine!

I found old bottles wash out of a household trash pit into a creek when i was 10 or so. I'm 57 and still have them. This guy, i understand him.

I came across Aeon by utter chance. Clicked on playlist and I'm completely hooked and so appreciative for your eclective uploads. This film in particular made me smile from ear to ear. In this modern age of brutal architecture and fast living it does the soul good to know the relics of past are literally inches away. This enchanting and inspirational film also proves, one can live in a city and thrive, without participating in the Corporate model. God bless all involved in the making of this production.

This is great. I used to do this in Kentucky, Illinois, Tennessee and Virginia. A lot of homes and businesses are built on top of old dumps today. I got into the pest control industry which allowed me to be able to access underneath these structures. You would not believe what you can find in a crawl space. The best thing I ever found was a hand wrought iron “Betty lamp” or “tallow lamp” from the early 1700’s. I took it to a local museum that said they’d never seen one before and they only had drawings of them. I miss digging around. It’s quite exciting.

I have to note that he seems to have never moved from the city he hated moving to. Gotta figure it's the treasure waiting to be found... (!)

Cool AS! If I ever manage to get to NYC, (the opposite side of the world to me), I would love to see stuff like this!

I regret that THIS is not how history is taught in classrooms. Bring a found object in and discuss it, the time it was created in, and what was going on in the world at that time. We did nothing more than memorize dates and event. - THIS would of made it real for me. GREAT job - keep on digging!

I came across this video because I read "The Island at the Center of the World", which lead me to find videos of Dr. Charles Gehrig, which lead me here. It's taken me down a new path of "discovery".
