It'd be awesome to see all the bats spray painted the same color so the batter doesnt know which is which. Bias cannot be discounted so it'd be cool to see a blind study.

You’ll definitely still feel weight and balance. Once contact is made you can tell grain. As long as the were painted where you can still see the grain to hold it right you won’t break it at bp speeds. These guys were generating their own power based on swing and the density / pop of the various models. I liked the video.

I did a unbiased study of something similar to this in junior high for a science fair project. I made a contraption on a clay pigeon thrower to have even swings and the ball was placed on a T. The bats all hit the sweet spots. It was a fun experience as a kid. Ironically now I’m a scientist not in physics lol.

Born and raised in Louisville, and moved back here for retirement. Proud of our bats and our baseball heritage in general. Pee Wee Reese was a neighbor. Great down to earth guy, humble as hell, and friendly. Good sports town as well. Had a brown maple Mickey Mantle model LS in Little League. The whole team wanted to use it. The store that sold them in our area had glass display cases, and had a sign " Warning $30 bucks a swing", because so many kids broke the glass trying the bat out. $30 was a lot of money in 1961, when I started Little League...

All of them swung what is for the most part an uncupped M110 that were pretty much drop 0s. The closest thing you can get to one right now without having to get a custom bat would be the Granderson Louisville Slugger bat, although it's still cupped. They're drop 1s though so it's very interesting once you get used to it. A lot of people hate them because they're used to end loaded metal bats, so I got one barely used for 40 bucks, figuring it's still an MLB Prime bat. Took me a few games to get used to it but it was a really good bat for me and never broke. I still use it as a BP bat.

I've watched great batters with different bats, that aren't in the pocket of the companies, and they hit long homeruns no matter what bat they were using. Keep in mind too that these bats are not worth $150. The companies just trick parents into thinking they are worth that money. Same thing exists for hockey sticks.

When I played in high school my favorite bats were Adirondack maple bats. A friend's father that had played pro ball gave me a bat to try. It was a white ash bat. I had hit with several white ash bats but I didn't like the way the ball felt coming off the bat. This bat was different though, by far the best feeling bat I had ever used. After HS ball was over we could play in as many different leagues that we wanted to. This bat lasted 3/4 of a season and including HS and all the other league games, about 80-85 games. I broke it on a curve when I expected a fastball. I kind of cue balled it off the end of the bat. It crushed me. I never could find another bat like that one. After I broke it, I went back to maple.

I played in an adult wood bat league for a few years I would say stay away from the cheap bats. They will crack easily and you will be constantly replacing them. The center of gravity on maple bats seemed to be closer to the end of the barrel and it felt like it allowed for more bat speed and more pop. The maple seems to fatigue after a number of hits and will eventually break. I kept a bat for games only and a practice/backup bat. The professional ash models are very resistant to breaking.

I dunno, dude. Pitched for a long time in wood bat leagues. I broke a number of hitter's bats and I didn't have anything overpowering or anything like that. Absolutely agree with your assessment of Maple and Ash. As a hitter, I was a slap hitter. Bunt and run. High OBP, but no power to speak of. My short swing didnt lend itself to breakage, so didnt break many. Keep safe and well.

I have the 7 series Louisville slugger, it’s very enloaded and I wouldn’t think it’s worth getting it. It’s harder to swing and you have to hit in a specific spot. There’s cheaper bats out there that will be more balanced and have the same pop. For me I’m a contact power guy who’s not the strongest guy and I have to time my swing very early in order to get barrel.

I always have multiple CB 35s ready to go. The bat is amazing not only does it hit Nukes but the swing weight is great and it's extremely durable. I have a CB 35 I use in the cage and two game ready bats. I haven't broken one yet I'm sure it'll happen someday but hasn't yet. I've seen two 3 series bats broken in 3 swings or less this season. Hopefully I can get into the 18+ leagues again so I can play alongside my son on the left side of the diamond with him. It’s been 8 yrs since I played with the young kids. Played Catcher for the first time at 30 and the pitcher threw 92+.... wow what a helluva experience!!! I hope these kids take their skills to the SHOW!!!! They can def hit a ball. I only faced 90+ cpl times in my yrs of playing & it isn’t hard once you get used to it. It’s the curveballs, sliders and other junk that’s gets ya ....

My first time using a wood bat in a game i was 13 years old in 13 14 yo league. At that time all kids used al6minum. I had a wood bat i swung on deck cause it made my aluminum feel lughter faster and more control . But this kid ed pangan had a no hitter against us going ane i was up with 2 outs in 7th , 7vinning game at age 13 . I said what the heck and used my louisville slugger willie mays edition and damn that wood sounded nice ripping a line drive into gap between left and center. Idk why but i still feel guilty about ruining the kids no hitter last out. Never wore a batting glove in life no matter how cold or what bat . Never used batting glove on catching hand niether and caught for 2 guys that threw 95 one a senior hs other in legion ball . Played til 38 years old . Guys like ted williams never wore batting glove i dont believe thier necessary if you not soft . Maybe cause i did masronry since 12 years old
