The cabinet is what they call a gentleman’s chest . It’s from anywhere between 1918 to the 1930s is when they were made like that . They usually had a small freestanding mirror on the top of it so that he could shave. A nice looking piece and really in good condition. Take you an old candle and rub it on the backside of the drawers to make it slide more easily. A good find For 30 bucks!

Pricing in antique stores is really a turn off for me because, like you said, that store doesn’t turn over merchandise which baffles me! Something is only worth what a person is willing to pay and the dealers are getting their merch at a low price. To have the same things over a long time would motivate me to lower prices and make deals!

I'm going to start collecting soon as i can! With a these new to me stores down here, and there's a ton, i should find some good pieces! Hopefully some that have been on my hunt/wish list for a while too! I loved that old stove!! I have several Currier & Ives coffee table books, ones a Christmas edition, but they're newer that that one you found. I'd love to have some on the older ones! I like to frame pictures out of them. That one has gorgeous pictures❤ I'm the same way on prices.. that one was a bit pricey! I'd give $9 for the basket too, it just had a hinge missing but that don't really matter if you're using it for decor! OMG.. that wardrobe for $30 girl I'd have snatched that up so fast! Awesome find😮 Its so pretty, love all the details, the little casters & the knobs!! You FB definitely tell the knobs are original, well if you've seen enough old pieces anyways. You don't see the little plates behind knobs too much anymore. Honey i'd be excited too! Everything about it is gorgeous..I'm so jealous!!😄 Lol I'd try google Lens & see if you can find the age for sure & what its worth!! I be dying to know what its worth!😁 You can go over it with some Briwax or something like that & it'll cover up alot of the scratches & polish it, make the wood shine.. unless you like the aged look, which personally i do but thought I'd let you know! 🤷‍♀️ Garage sales have the best prices, people want to get rid of stuff, they don't want to take it back in! I started going to garage sales over 30yrs ago, way before i started thrifting. I saw someone pick that exact same brass change dish up just the other day at an antique store for her husband. It wasn't much, maybe $3-$5.. But that's Alot more than .25¢ right?? Thermos's are on my hunt list! Love the Christmas book, i love old books period! 📚 The embroidered tea towels are super cute. (The thin ones are tea towels) You definitely had a great haul! Enjoyed getting excited with you over the wardrobe!😄

We have a nearly exact cabinet that belonged to my husband's grandmother that she bought new in the late 20's, early 30's.

Use candle wax on the top sides of the drawers and the bottom sides to help them slide better on the cabinet it's and old piece for sure.

You need to some paste wax and rub the piece of furniture down and all the drawers. It is amazing for reconditioning dry wood and helping the drawers slide.

I'll eventually hold my 4-day downsizing yard sale, which will free up my treadmill in the garage. My DVD player has been set up out there for over a year, waiting. Sigh!---Will you be OK with that storm coming? There's a fire in rugged terrain 30 miles from me, ash on the cars this morning even tho the fire is East & we get westerly ocean breezes.

I wouldn’t put the hand weights in your new dresser. That much weight can cause the wood bottoms to sag. Maybe in the closet on the floor?

Those little towels are so elegant. Love them and all your finds. Have you tried asking the antique store vendor to lower the price on that item you’ve been watching? If it’s not selling, they should realize it’s overpriced. Worth a try.
