Join me for a 30 Minute Mat Pilates Beginners workout - perfect for days when you want to take it a bit easier or for when you are building your practice as a new convert to Pilates. Whatever your level, this is a lovely workout to do on a daily basis. Hope you enjoy it.
This is one of three workouts filmed in sequence to give you a choice of levels and challenge depending on how you're feeling. I recommend you start with this and work your way up to the Intermediate and Advanced levels as and when you feel ready to do so.

    That was a great session, one that I'd recommend to all of us, not just those who are new to Pilates. I always love the idea of having a beginner's mind, and for me there's always something new to discover, something new to learn, something that clicks in a way that it hasn't done before (not just my back 🤣). It's easy to think that we should all progress through the levels but the longer I do Pilates (and I'm a novice, having just done it for a year) the more I realise that every move can be bettered, every transition made more flowing. So thank you Rachel, as always.

    Wonderful refresher, great way to start the March challenge 😅I always learn something new when I do these mat sessions slowly and mindfully, paying attention to my breathing, my form, your very helpful prompts. And I am a visual learner, so the bright yellow workout gear is not only attractive, Springlike and cheerful, it helps me watch you better on my iPad beside my mat! Good thinking!😉🌼🌼🌼💙💚💛🧡👍🏻 (did this on 3/1, posted on the pelvic floor session? Moved it.)

    A good workout for days that I might be feeling tired or overextended. That stretch at the end was a perfect ending. I'm going to do the standing spinal mobility exercise video today too.

    Beautifully done and such precise moves. I was absolutely perspiring by the time I got done! I just wish my Apple Watch would give me more credit than 71 total calories because I know I am burning more. I surise their algorithm thinks I can’t burn more because of my age.Thanks so much, Rachel, for making me pain free over the past two plus years of doing your sessions daily.

    @@fayewhite7541 me too. But... I keep trying. My is so much more than that roll up and down. I suffer from Post Covid since 12/2020. I found that Video from Rachel for Post last year I guess. And all the Videos helpful for my recovery. My body is so much stronger now. Just look at the things your beautiful body can do. Focus on that. That is what I learned from Rachel and I'm thankful for that. 🩵🩵🩵

    Morning Rachael I thoroughly enjoyed this session. I am 73 years young I did Pilates many years ago and have been doing yoga stretches every morning and have decided to mix it up with your beginners Pilates. I cannot see the link to buy a coffee 🙏🏽

    I enjoyed the workout, although with some of the moves I am not as flexible as I would like to be so I had to modify them a bit. I am really new to Pilates and have been doing your videos for about two months. Do you have any videos that help with super-beginner flexibility? Or should I start with some of the Senior videos since they are a more gentle workout? Keep up the wonderful work you do!

    I tought I did it already before. The roll up and downs are still a seeming issue. So I roll up with feet fixed and do not rool down I am a little scared to harm my right hip/back. But keep trying ❤😊❤ thank you.

    It's good to back sometimes. I have been doing Pilates for six years and still found this tough, I think it was because there were a lot of doing each move when we normally do just three. Obviously I am not as supple as I thought!😩😬😲x

    Hi Beverley and welcome to my channel. My advice is to practice for 10 weeks 3-4 tims a week and then see how you feel. If you’ve no injuries or movement restrictions you can move into the mixed ability sessions from there 🤗 You’ll find a mixed ability playlist and an intermediate playlist which you can try too after the 10 weeks 🤗❤️

    I have a question. How do we differentiate between a senior pilates video and a beginner video. Are they interchangeable? I’m a senior and am wondering if both are the same level?

    Hello Judith, this is an excellent question, thanks for asking. The beginner vidoes are for people new to pilates or those who like to work at a more steady pace on the fundamental exercises- they can be for any age at all including Seniors. The Senior videos are for those people who want a workout that is specifically aimed at their age group in pace, so slower and more gentle. It also means I put in exercises that I know benefit an ageing body-in my view these are vidoes for 65+ or for those who feel they just want to do exercises that target key areas that need more work as we age- balance, back extension, rotation and coordination and I take out exercises that are not as necessary- lots of flexion. If you are fit, healthy with no major conditions then Beginner Pilates is absolutely fine for you and I would encourage you to try it. I hope that helps? Best wishes, Rachel 😘

    I’ve been doing yoga for 25+ years plus cardio and strength training for 5+ decades. Pilates is a great new challenge for me in my early 70s. You are an excellent teacher and I’m very much enjoying learning this new discipline. It’s interesting how Joseph Pilates “borrowed” so much from yoga but he introduced many new ideas and practices.
