    I love your energy, your beautiful and creative classes and your soft but warm voice Leigha!! And I love the fact that you offer so much time for silence and introspection. When I just started practicing yoga almost a decade ago, you were one of my first teachers and have since been a huge inspiration for me. If I lived closer I would have probably done a training with you, but since I live in Europe, it wasn’t an option. Now I live in Berlin and have been teaching for 5 years, and you are still one of my absolute favorite teachers. You are one of the best teachers on KZread and I hope you reach 500k because you deserve it!! As for your question ;) Side plank has always been one of those love/hate kind of poses for me because I’ve had periods of super cranky shoulders and wrists, but it’s also one of those poses I feel my body really needs. I have spine issues so I really need to focus on building a strong core. Thank you for continuing to challenge us, inspire us and helping us grow! Xoxoxox

    To me a good plank feels like a hand is pulling my body up from a string, so it makes me feel both strong and light at the same time. So good to see you back on here! I love your classes!

    It's taken me a good while to stop dreading a side plank and appreciate them! At the beginning of a practice they feel great, but towards the end they get shaaaaakyyyy 😅❤

    Side planks feel strong & balanced from the hips down, light in the middle, wobbly and tight from the breast up, esp in the shoulders!

    Innnnnteresting! What happens if you start in plank and the pull the shoulder blades apart… then, keeping the protracted blades, roll slowwwwly onto one side? You don’t even have to go all the way. Instead, spend time in the zone where you feel pretty strong but are on the edge of losing that powerful feeling.

    @@LeighaButler Just gave these instructions a whirl and truly feel a bit more balanced. The instructions have me bringing more mindfulness to the pose, so, ya know, that always helps. I'm 6'4" and pretty thin, so I think that may be part of my wobbliness! Thanks Leigha, much appreciated!! 💙🧘‍♂

    Side plank can hurt my wrist when not properly warmed, but I agree it is such a powerful foundational asana (especially when cued by you). I feel strong, light, beautiful and graceful in it. I love exploring variations and slowly using it as a transition from wild thing

    Hi! I love your practices💜 I can say now that I love doing side planks (at first the balance was hard), I am still quite careful always bc my elbows and shoulders are hyper flexible, and my bones move a lot. if I do them well i feel so much strenght and steadiness everywhere; today was the first time I closed my eyes in both sides!!! it felt earthy, silent and airy at the same time❤ Lots of love from Argentina, I love your channel, I suscribed when i found You of course!💛

    Side plank feels stiff and weak! It also hurts my ribs for some reason. I hope you reach your 100k subscribers. You deserve it. You're the reason I got back into yoga after having a baby and I'm v appreciative. Thank you x

    Great class, first time on your channel. I didn't know it existed until it "popped up" on my KZread channel list. I really like how you list what types of exercises and parts of the practice you are doing in the notes above. I love doing the side planks. I feel it's great for core and arm toning/stability. I'm 48 and not lifting weights much, so I need to be able to keep my arms looking as young as possible, lol. I'll definitely return for another class.

    I love side planks too.. lately I’ve been feeling a lot of pressure in my hands near the base of my thumb and my palm which makes holding side planks for 5-10 breathes very challenging

    Be sure to do a quick wrist warm up before doing any yoga practice. Makes any weight bearing on the wrists a million times more tolerable...
