.30 M1 Carbine 250 Yards Shooting
Спорт
Target shooting the .30 M1 Carbine at a laser-measured 250 yards in a stiff 10-15 mph wind. Using iron sights, no scope. This rifle is a 1943 Inland/General Motors. I'm using AR500 steel targets from Mike Gibson Targets. Ammo is 110 grain FMJ from Prvi Partizan.
This open-sight shooting exhibition showed the accuracy potential of the M1 carbine at what many believe is at or beyond its effective range. However, it also showcased how the lower velocity of this round compared to newer cartridges (or .30-06 from an M1 Garand, for example) causes the bullet to drop like a rock. The comparative lower energy delivered at this distance was also notable.
This session was cleared with the property owners of a huge tract of land, surround by more large tracts of land. Backstops were confirmed. No cattle were harmed during the production of this video.
Filmed with two Sony HD AVCHD camcorders; HDR-CX560 at 28 mbps 60p and HDR-CX110 at 24 mbps. Edited using Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11, MP4, 30p, 16 mbps.

Note: Many have said that she (My M1 Carbine) is not a great hunting firearm, at 14yrs old I wouldn't have known. I enlisted in the Marine Corps 80-91, served as a grunt, then went onto STA plt in 2/3, 3/3, & 1/1, as well as Marine Barracks Seal Beach, got out and became a cop, been one since. I have a dozen or so hunting rifles and shotguns. I still use my old M1 Carbine to put meat on the table, most often, I carry her around in the bush thinking about my dad and all the good times we shared.

Considering you have ample experience with it, what do you think of the reliability? People always say the mags are shit and basically designed to be disposable, but that the gun otherwise is solid. Been looking to get a polimer one

Primarily thanks for your service and continued work as a police officer Second, have you ever used tula ammo in your m1 carbine? And have you an opinion about universal made m1 carbine?

Semper Fi with my old eyes off a bench 3 inch group of 15 rounds. With my carbine. Great rifle just keep fresh mags.
Thumbs up for no tannerite, no bikini-clad bimbos, no irresponsible gun handing, and no annoying political commentary. Your "just the facts" presentation, first class production value, and ~outstanding~ marksmanship make this one of the best shooting videos I've seen. Well done.
It has around 600 ft-lbs of energy at 100yrds. Thats like getting hit by .357mag point blank. It's still a decent mid-range rifle..
This is a fantastic video and should really shut some people up about the accuracy of the M1 Carbine. I love seeing the bullet lob across the camera and hit the gong :)

@Baxter James A lot of people compare it to the Garand (which they shouldnt, totally different rifles for different purposes), so you usually here "thing is so weak and unreliable" from people who play videogames.

@@222foont well, a carbine is a short rifle
I've had a number of .30 cal. carbines, I would have never believed that little rifle would reach out 250 yds. with that accuracy. Very informative video, thanks.
Gotta love the M1! I inherited 1 from my mom after she passed in 91! Out of all the guns I've had, this is one that I will never get rid of for sure!
One of the best fire arms in the roles intended for it. good shooting too under windy conditions. As others have said here slowing down and controlling breathing etc might get better hits, but in combat conditions you most often do not get time to do this anyway.

You would need an ammo carrier at that rate.
Very impressive presentation of the M-1 Carbine's capabilities to "reach out".. Excellent videography and marksmanship. Prvi Partizan .30 cal. ammo did the job without a hiccup..
Love these fine little rifles , my nicest is a Winchester , but my best looking is a Underwood . They all shoot excellent and seriously fun . But more effective than many think or believe
Excellent marksmanship.
Good fun !!! You just made me want to go out and shoot mine again very soon. Gotta love the sound and feel of the old trooper :) Nothing like it. Thanks for the video.
i like how you're always positive, it makes watching that much more enjoyable! hope to see more from your m1 carbine!
Great shooting and great video!! Thanks for posting!
Great shooting! Clearly head-shot accuracy at 250 yards; wow. The slow motion at the end was awesome.
Excellent shooting. I love seeing bullets in flight.
I love these guns. Just neat and Great little Carbine.
U B da man, 250yds with a head shot, U spurred me to the range now to try the shot. Just awesome!
This is, by far, my favorite M1 Carbine shooting video on youtube! Thank you! One day I will own one of these amazing guns.

Detman101 Thanks, hoping to post a few more M1 videos down the road. Possibly a 100 yard video to show their accuracy potential, maybe even a shooting montage.

Dude, i really like how you give detailed descriptions of everything.
Thanks for posting this , it amazing how you can see the bullet fly through the air , amazing !
Thanks for taking the time to make such quality shooting vids! Love the editing and GUNS!
FUN video with my all-time favorite gun. Excellent job! Thanks.
You're a heck of a lot better shot than me. At 250 yds, I would not expect to hit the torso target 1-time out of 20 shots through iron sights. . Love seeing the action of that .30 rifle. Best !
That little thing is pretty impressive. I've always really liked the 30 carb. a whole lot!!!
There aren't words to describe the joy this video brings to me.
Do not worry about the mix of parts. Unless you get lucky, you won't even find one that has 39 of the same maker's parts in it. And any with all the same maker's parts is a fake. No Mfg made all 69 parts for one so that is a clue. During the war, if company A had parts that company B needed, those parts were moved as fast as possible to keep production lines running. In fact, some companies even had to go as far as lining out another company's markings on receivers to keep their production totals up to par. My National Postal Meter is built on a lined out Underwood receiver. It was shipped to NPM as a barreled receiver and then finish assembled. Underwood supplied extra barrels to others to use also so you find them on a lot of the Carbines. Can you imagine GM and Ford shipping parts to Dodge to build vehicles?
One of my good friends has the Inland 30 carbine. Shooting it was probably the most fun I have ever had with a centerfire rifle. Thanx!!
This is a great video I absolutely love that rifle! I love how you can see the bullet travel. It looks like you are really high off the target but it still connects. Great vid!
Good job great clip! Own a Springfield M1 Carbine myself. Lucy because my Dad bought it new in the early 60's and it is in like new condition. Got to love the old military surplus.
Thank you for posting this videos 👍
Wonderful video. I love the plate shooting part.
Great video! If you look closely you can clearly see the rounds arcing into the metal plates.
I love my old M-1 Carb too. Great vid!
Excellent shooting!! As far as I know, almost all M1 Carbines were assembled from parts made around the country. Now I'm positive I need one of these!
The M1 has been on my list of to-buys for almost 5 years and it was just this year that I finally decided to acquire one - an M2 Carbine actually. The price seems to have doubled in the last 5 years so decided I must get one now. Truly a must-have for collectors and shooters alike.
That was a great video! loved seeing those bullets fly through the air and hit those targets. Great job.
A good honest video. I love this carbine.
Pretty amazing actually seeing the rounds mid-flight before they hit the round steel targets. Good video, sir.
Moooooo! Awesome video again! It was so nice to come shooting with you when all I had to do was sit here and sip coffee, no hauling around heavy plates and the bench, no risk of mad cow attack. Really enjoyed the slow motion scenes at the end. full screen was so crisp at 1080p I felt like I could go back to that spot and find any one of those steel plate bullets after seeing where it bounced.
Great shooting! Great video!
Thank you for including all of the statistics and info!
That is a great shooting M1 for sure. Nice video thanks for posting it!!!
I enjoyed that, especially the slow motion at the end, seeing the bullets in flight was really interesting!
Watchin those rounds fly at the water jugs was awesome!
Fantastic vid and fantastic shooting! I "knew" you could do it! Thats's a beauty of an M1 Carbine...just gorgeous. Thanks for all of your vids, I really enjou them.
That M1 is a beauty, love the stock. I've only ever shot one and it was a so fun to shoot. No real recoil, just a blast.
Great vid. I love my 30 carbine it's a IAI assembled in Houston Texas great at a 100 yards coke can size pattern. Haven't brought it out past that but I am going to have to try now 👍👍👍
Great shooting TNO9! You da man!
Having this same rifle and maker, I find it pleasant to shoot and never had a malfunction. I never used it at that distance but encouraging to know it can do it well enough to be a stopper.
i just love how you can see the rounds in flight!
Nice shooting, beautiful rifle.
Love my little M1. Lotsa fun!
Amazing seeing the bullet lobe into view.
I love seeing the bullets go down range on the little round targets
cool cam shots, you can see the bullet! great videos!
Just got around to this vid. Fantastic! LOVE the slow motion shots...especially the second red plate when the bullet bounced up in the air. Great video. Glad you are back and I so hope that you are feeling stronger these days....Mike
That projectile bounce off of the plate is awesome. What a handy weapon.
Haha, that was cool, loved seeing the rounds looping in and hitting those "headshot"plates, great video.
Thanks for this video. I really like this old carbine so it was a fun video to watch as are your others. Subscribed!
Great shooting, enjoyed the video
Actually able to see the lead fly! Great as always!
Great vid TN
Great shooting!

Great shooting
Nice shooting and some great slow-mo at the end.
gotta love slow motion with vapor trails. so interesting to see.
Nice video. I just bought an M1 Carbine off of my uncle. Built in TX for the Isreali army for training purposes. I love it!
It was cool watching those bullets hitting the targets
Great shooting with a small cal and for those that think it's useless maybe they should be a target at 250 and give us some feed back. Might be a quiet forum I would think!
Very Cool!!!! Great camera work as well.
VERY cool video
Wonderful thank you for your video.
It's been too long since your last video. Thanks for uploading quality videos!
Crazy I can see the rounds flying
nice rifle!! i love those rifles
With my National Postal Meter M1 Carbine I can go prone and do head shots all day at 100 yards. 10 out of 10 on a IPSC targets head is no big deal!!! Excellent PDW!
nice shooting man, i shot one of these a few years ago and i have to say it is a sweet shooter for moderate distances. keep up the great work.
Just shows you, even with a M1 Carbine, a soldier popping his head out of a foxhole or a window could make himself a very easy target in clear conditions to a half decent shooter.
I enjoyed your video, makes me want to leave my office and run out to the range right now !
Prvi Partizan is an ammunition maker based in Užice (pron. oo-jeet-say), Serbia. The company's name means first partisan in Serbo-Croatian.
Thanks for a positive review of a great little gun, and no paranoid politics.
Bloody good shooter!
Good to see another vid, it's been too long!
Nice shooting with a great carbine! Great camera for bullet visibility!
That's amazing I can actually see the bullets flying towards the targets.
that looks like a great riflex thanks for sharing
Nice video man
Nice Shooting ! Got to love the old M-1's. I have two of them; one made by IBM, the other is made by Winchester. 250-300 yards is about as far as i can shoot and hit something with them. Thanks for posting this video !
