I was pursued by two adolescent moose on a bush road in Northern Ontario, with my Springer Spaniel, Clementine, when I was 14. They’re huge scary creatures when you’re alone in the bush except for your brave protector. I crouched down, made myself small and kept Clemmy quiet. The moose decided we weren’t a threat and wandered off. Scared both my pupper and myself! Moose kill people in the Great White North every year. I’m glad I didn’t join them.

My immediate family emigrated to a relatively remote area of Finland a few decades ago, and my boyfriend and I visited the next Xmas. Lots of snow and apart from 'potties' in bedrooms during the night, they only had an 'outhouse'! One evening my boyfriend went to the outhouse, and came back shaken - swearing he has seen a Moose on his way back! This only came as a suprise to myself and my boyfriend..... He was the lucky one though, as even though I visited Finland many times thereafter - I never saw a Moose.

A big black bear was 7 ft away from me(No I was not in a vehicle and no I didn't approach it, I simply turned to my left and then there it was), so yes. No screaming needed. I was laughing bc my mom was abt to run(Bc I'm her kid ofc she's afraid of me being possibly killed by a bear basically when we were there for my aunts funeral for a week who didn't die to long ago) then I told her "shouldn't we be speed walking to the porch? And not running mom?" And then another black bear (Not as big as the first one)was behind us behind the bushes. It was a very fun experience, since we were also joking abt us seeing a black bear than it happened, hopefully sometime we wont see a mountain lion/ All the other names if we go back up there XD. Listen if I'm gonna die by an animal I might aswell pet it before I die.

The moose early on was very kind. Both parties went off trail for the other LOL.

That's a pileated woodpecker...never to be confused w/its much smaller cousin, the red-headed woodpecker.

@@jaquigreenlees I wonder if there's a longer version of this clip. I think the calf was caught up in something. Sadly, I would agree with you if the mother had to abandon it. But if she was waiting near by, I can only imagine exhausted in trying to help her calf, perhaps that's the scene here? Because if the calf had been not long caught up, that mother wouldn't have let anyone near her baby. LOL. Maybe the calf grew up to be the huge moose lucky-Loo thought would be a good idea to pet?!!
I’d be worried about what the moose was running from.
