The right hand/left hand thing actually has a tie to the Batman comic books. One issue had Batman and Robin signing autographs. A friend mentioned to Robin that a criminal could use their signatures to compare handwriting and figure out who they were. Robin said that would be impossible because, while Batman and Robin are right handed, they always sign autographs left handed so the letters will be different in style.

Considering most comic book movies are $200+ million, yeah, that's pretty tight. And Phoenix's pay alone was $4.5 million. Now add in all the other actors, and extras, craft services, director, producers, camera operators, sound people, lighting, paying to close off city blocks for filming, editors, special effects, costume designers, makeup, props, armorer for the guns, safety personnel, stunt coordinators/actors, assistants, janitors, etc....And that's not even close to an exhaustive list of people involved in the making of a movie. A movie that only cost $55 million making over $1 billion is absolutely ridiculous, and so far, it's the only movie ever to do so.

I would imagine someone has already said this but I didn't see it mentioned , might have missed it...but M. Night's "Unbreakable" is the first movie that consists entirely of what is typically the first act in a superhero movie, the origin. The whole movie is an origin story and is still one of the best "superhero" flicks ever made, in my opinion, even though it wasn't based on an existing comic. And what's really great is that it's not only the origin story of the hero but also his nemesis. Good schtuff. (good video, by the way)

Honestly, this film was a tier above Citizen Kane. It's a groundbreaking film that also creates an inversion of the three act structure, where the Joker reaches his highest point in the second act, when we usually associate the hero being at the lowest point... Except that the Joker is no hero. He's the villain. And we are all too aware of this because the savagery keeps us connected to the horror of what is going on, and instead of the Joker being at his lowest point in the second act, it is us, the audience that is at *our* lowest point, just as the Joker is finally breaking loose. This is, in my opinion, just as groundbreaking as anything done in Orson Welles movie, which explored a thematic journey rather than just another fanciful traipse down treacle lane.

Heard an interview with Tarantino who said if you didn’t see this with an audience, in particular the talkshow assassination scene, you “had a handjob instead of a threesome.” Haha! Damn! Sorry I missed that then. This was ALMOST a Horror flick with that music, the violence, but mostly its menace. I can see why superhero fanboys would find it boring. I thought it was a spectacular Artfilm and the ultimate anti-hero story. It’s “The Shinning” of superhero movies.

Vincent may not be very good at his job but his willingness to do those jobs is why he was still around. Even amongst criminals, finding people willing to do jobs like Vincent does where extreme violence is needed is not easy. Most people including criminals would have a hard time murdering 3 people they didnt know for something that didnt belong to them. When you do find someone willing to do it and keep his mouth is a very rare you keep them around

Anyone else notice the sidewalk line... River Phoenix collapsed on the sidewalk outside the Viper Room in 1993 and later died. Joaquin was there. I wonder if this is what he meant?

He considered songs to be characters and went to such great lengths to create songs for the movie, so why put Rock n Roll part2 also know as The Hey song in the iconic downstairs dance?
