i do wonder if her adoption was a closed adoption. My twin cousins are adopted and their mother was victim of a rape & got pregnant with both of them. She didnt want to have an abortion but she also wasnt ready to be a mom (she was barely 15). So she gave both of them up to a couple (my aunt & uncle) that wanted both of them. Its not that they werent wanted, its their mom wanted them to have better than she could give them. they did eventually meet her once they were of age & they still have contact; but they still call my aunt & uncle, mom & dad and their biological mom by her name. I wasnt there at visits, but i do remember them saying that she cried a lot seeing that they were okay; that it was the hardest thing she'd ever done to let them go. But she knew she made best choice after seeing how well they turned out. One is a nurse and another is in school to be speech therapist

I just wish she’d said “my mommy couldn’t take care of me” or something. I understand the honesty, but a 3 year old hears that, and they wonder what they could do to make mommy not want them. Or another kid tells them they’re adopted, and they innocently ask the kid why didn’t you mommy want you?

​​@@SinginginDyeah, I kinda see that and "that's exactly why I had you" as red flags, tbh. You shouldn't have a child just to fill some kinda hole in yourself or to fix your life. It doesn't work and that's a LOT to put on a child. They're a brand new, vulnerable person - their existence shouldn't be about your trauma & that's likely to backlash on the kid's own psyche. Not to mention affect and possibly damage their relationship when the child grows up.

​@SinginginD couldn't agree more! I see alot off people applauding her "honesty". As a clinical psychologist I cringed when she said that. It's quite toxic. It's too much to burden a 3 year old with. That's a conversation she should have with her friends, partner and a therapist and get validation from those relationships. Validation from a 3 year old?? nah!

I like the parents who talk to their kids normally and dont dismiss/deflect their questions.

I'm pretty sure she already heard it, considering her adoptive mother adopted her, lol. I'm adopted, and I never felt bad about my biological mom giving me up because my adoptive parents always made me feel wanted by them. Not every adoptee is heartbroken that they we've been given up. We're curious about where we come from, but we're not all broken and sad about our biological family not wanting us if we grew up in a loving adoptive home.

They're children. You shouldn't treat them as though they're stupid, and you should help them learn by staying at a level that's graspable with effort. Here, as sweet as it is to hear her daughter say she wants her, this toddler was just introduced to the developmentally-inappropriate concept that some mommies don't want their children and give them away instead. This is the sort of thing that, the night after the next time you discipline them, you'll be walking out of their room after putting them to bed and hear, "Are you going to give me away to a different mommy?" (You're also liable to hear them ask a peer they discover is adopted why their mommy didn't want them.) A _lot_ of parents have seen this after (innocently) telling their children something like, "Don't worry. It didn't hurt. Grandpa just fell asleep and never woke up." Days later, as their child is falling asleep at the table (again), they ask why they're so sleepy and find out that their child has been scared to fall asleep at night, "In case I don't wake up, like Grandpa!"

I have a 5 year old that does 200 piece puzzles by herself and picked up how to ride a bike with no training wheels within a week. She’s well aware of how to use certain words. They’re curious and sort of like a sponge when it comes to things said around them. So I’m not saying be brutally honest 24/7 but don’t shy away from telling them things when they ask about it. Doesn’t do them any good and if you don’t straighten out the answers to questions that they ask, they’ll find their answer somewhere else. Stop sending your little people out into the world blindfolded! Help them understand.

@@FFKonoko personally, I don’t think it’s that hard. It’s not easy by any means but the rewards and joy far exceed the cons. The hardest part is becoming more selfless but it becomes natural. I can see people being miserable if they aren’t willing to sacrifice. The kid will have to come first. They can really bring out the best in you.

Being a woman who has gone thru similar, nothing I repeat nothing, has healed me more than giving my son the love I didn’t get ❤️

As someone who has given a baby up for adoption, please don’t assume the mom “didn’t want the baby”. I won’t speak for this woman’s experience because she may know things I don’t, but I know for me, I desperately wanted that baby. I fell in love with him the moment he was born just like I did all the children I had later in life. I felt a hole in my soul when I left without him, when I didn’t bring him home with me. When I say I cried for over a year straight, I’m not exaggerating. But I was also 15. I couldn’t give him the life he deserved. I got to pick his new family and they are the most amazing parents still to this day (open adoption is a blessing), I got to see him grow up and all the opportunities he got that I could never have given him. I cried every time I left, because I loved him, and yes I was happy for him and his parents who absolutely adored and wanted him, but I wanted him too and it hurt my soul that I felt I lost him over and over again. Those who say “if you didn’t want a child, you should have aborted,” are not seeing the full picture. Abortions are a choice, birth is a choice, adoption is a choice. We want people to have choices because one option doesn’t work for everyone all the time in all situations.

I saw this like a year ago and it was the sweetest. Seeing it again, having my own baby sleeping on my shoulder, this is extra sweet. Children are a gift.

That child is highly intelligent. Asking questions non-stop until she got an answer that made sense to her. she already has the ability to sympathize and tell her mother that even if no one else wants her she does. Just Priceless.

The kid felt so sorry for her mom, her immediate reaction was to reassure mom, she’s wanted and loved.

I remember my son and I playing outside and I kind of had a lot of stress out of nowhere and my son said whats "wrong daddy, are you sad nobody wants you" and I shook my head yes and he said "but I want you" literally made me realise he is the only thing that will ever matter the most. Kids can change a parent to be better.

I'm a grown ass man and I teared up on this one. As a father, I couldn't imagine my child not feeling wanted. I'm glad this mother found her peace through her daughter. It's a beautiful sight.

You seem like a pretty good dad. Not to assume you don't already do this but be sure to be affectionate to your kiddos and state clearly how much you love them and want them in your life. All of them. My dad was never that affectionate to my brother and only the daughters in the family, so now they dont have much of a relationship.

Yea. Just like my boy. Just yesterday I was frustrated coz I can't get dinner right. So he came over and gave me a hug. I said "I didn't do a good job. I'm sad." My son replied "I love what you did. I love your food." ❤️ He fixed me in many other ways. I'm grateful I have a little man who loves me unconditionally.

Yes but watch out bc as they get older they start saying things like I don't want you, leave me alone, all the way to i hate you. And all the comments I saw here nurture those feelings that are gonna feel so much harder when they do the opposite. Just know that it's a part of development and do your best never to take it too personally. They don't know how it feels on the other end. Or maybe they do and are just trying to cause as much pain as they can. If you treat them with compassion but boundaries that demand respect, they will come around (or perhaps they need mental healthcare).

Of course you are wanted and loved. Your biological mother giving you up has absolutely nothing to do with your self worth. Idk her reasons, they could've been to give you a better life than she would be able to provide, emotionally and financially...or not. It hurts regardless, I understand that. But God gave you children that you obviously raised with lots of love. And you're reaping the rewards and they're worth more than money could ever buy. What awesome sons you have. :)

I do appreciate that the mother calmly explained the situation to the young child and she reacted in empathy instead of the mom having a break down about it and the child reacting to those emotions. Very sweet.

The way she speaks her love language, “I want you” instead of “I love you”. Child has a good heart ❤️

Wow, the compassion that little girl has is amazing. You are doing a beautiful job raising her, that is very clear!

I was an overthinking child. Hearing that her mom didn't want her would have rocked my world and make me very anxious and depressed 😢 Things we say or show to little children can have a huge impact on them.

Dude the way the mom just broke down from those words really shows how insane of an impact those words meant to her. Man.

I know lots of girls with moms who had them to fill a place of loneliness and neglect and trust me when I say their current relationships are not good. Because the child adopts a parental role and then when the kid inevitably rebels the parent literally cannot handle that rejection again and it ends badly. It was a cute moment but that baby girl just took on a lifetime of burden.

Yes my four year old daughter (my bonus baby) is the same way she’s beyond most adults. My mommy keeps saying she’s me all over again.

I'm from tamil nadu, india and we have a saying in our culture, it goes, Children and God are one. God wanted to her to know that she was wanted and he let her know in the most beautiful way possible. It's when I see stuff like these and wish someone wanted me...

As someone who also was adopted, her saying that she wanted her made me cry. This is so sweet.

He kept me sheltered so much that I believed that when a couple got married, they would move to a thatched house in the country with a beautiful garden brimming with flowers. I honestly believed that until I was 11! I'm very old now and my childhood seems so long ago, but it was a shock to go out into the big wide world! I was not the same bringing my children up, thank goodness. 🙂

People say kids are dumb even at 3 she understood exactly what her mom said and had empathy for her.... she's so sweet

As a pediatric dentist I can tell you that kids a just short adults with big feelings. Esp when you factor in that most adults are stunted somewhere because of childhood traumas so they display the same emotional outbursts and temper tantrums when things don't go their way.

I’m not crying. You’re crying. As an adoptee I’ve had almost the exact same scenario with my daughter as well. She feels sorry for me and always hugs me. ❤ I let her know I love her and don’t stress about mommy’s past because it’s not her burden and I’m here to love HER.

I knew what we were doing was right when my niece, at 5 years old, corrected her uncle, that she never met before. He tried to demean her response for not automatically hugging him when he said he was her uncle. She replied " no, your a stranger. I don't know you." Yeah, I laughed all in his face, not ashamed either.

I was adopted at birth. Not because i wasnt wanted, but because my birth parents couldnt afford children. My parents always told me how loved and wanted I was. I remember once in elementary school, for mothers day, I was drying because I "didn't know my mom, my REAL mom," and my teacher held me and told me that out of everyobe in this room, that I was the only one whose parents had specifically picked me out, that they wanted ME, and that lack of blood relation doesnt mean anything when it comes to family. I still think about that conversation often and am so grateful for that teacher.

At first I thought to myself “she’s too young to hear that” but I remember being confused about why my sister was always going to this weird place every week until my parents told me “someone bad hurt your sister, so she’s seeing someone that’s helping her” after that I was much more caring towards my older sister (someone molested her and she was going to therapy twice a week. they told me the whole story when I was much older) She told her in a light way without too much detail. That’s the way to do it! She’s a lucky girl having a beautiful mother like her. Thanks for sharing the video

Cudos to your parents for making sure your sister received intensive therapy. And what a lovely sibling you are for being so supportive. Hope your sister is doing well. The same happened to me when I was 11 but my father had anger issues and my mum was too scared to tell him. I suffered in silence resulting in a disrupted, chaotic life as an adult. By the time I went to therapy as an adult, my thought patterns etc was very much established. I'm 53 and its still an ongoing battle against / process to try and change my hurt self.

You can hear her start giving the default parent response too before changing her mind "That's just the way..." She chose to be honest and vulnerable in an age appropriate way and her daughter responded in the sweetest way

I was adopted at birth. My birth mother couldn't mentally handle children. She was slow and only had the mental capacity of a 14 year old and Men took advantage of her. So her cousin adopted me. She told me year's later. "I wanted you very much I love you! But they said I couldn't take care of you cause I'm not smart." It broke My heart. She's a beautiful person and we have a great relationship. Everything happens for a reason. God's plan for your life isn't always what you want but it's what's Best.

Thank you. I’m adopted too and I hated how this mother unjustly maligned her biological mother to her child. It’s far more likely that she couldn’t take care of her or wasn’t allowed to. Now the child has an image of anyone who gives up a child as being in the wrong. I’d hate to be an adoptive parent of a child in the daughter’s class, as she might unwittingly say something unkind at any time.

I know a little boy who was adopted at birth, same situation, his parents both couldn’t mentally handle children, I didn’t know too much more other than that but it ended up perfect because the little boy not only looks just like his adoptive parents, but his adoptive parents had been trying for a baby for many years and they just couldn’t get pregnant so They raised him so well and then all of a sudden, his birth parents got pregnant again! And they were able to adopt that little baby as well, a baby girl. So now he has a full blood sister and although I feel for the woman who can’t care for her babies, I’m happy they ended up with the perfect people.

You are doing such a good job as a mother! Being open and honest with her when most parents would think “oh she’s too young” and not have the conversation is fantastic. Keep it up! She is the absolute sweetest!

When the little girl said that, tears welled up instantly! What a gift!

This is a good example of why parents need to be honest and clear with children at a young age especially when they’re developing. This young girl, who is three years old was able to understand, and her sense of empathy was so pure.😊

Even more importantly, when she meets other kids who were adopted like her mom this girl isn’t going to tease or stare. She’s going to accept it, which reinforces what those new parents are: that adoptees parents. Kudos to honest mom for helping teach acceptance & kudos to daughter for understanding.

Tbh it just seems to me like the mom is already using her daughter to vent to at the ripe age of 3.

When I told my 8 year old child that my biological father left me, she put her hand on my arm and said “I’m so sorry” ♥️ I started crying. I had always needed that empathy.

I’m also adopted and just hearing that made me tear up. That is a wonderful family!

Emotionally intelligent little hunny baby. The empathy and sweetness for her mother……. Well done mommy. You broke the cycle. What a sweet sweet moment 😭😭😭😭
