I prefer twisting backwards. I noticed that the more often I did flat twists, the better they got. Now they’re neat and firm every time.

I learned how to cornrow, French braid, and plait when I was a little girl. However, I struggle with flat twisting. I need to learn this! You made this illustration so clear. Thank you so much. This just might be the solution I need! My difficulties always seem to come from trying to part the next section while holding the already twisted sections (I always said I need three hands), so pre-parts might be ideal. Can't wait to try it now!

I loved the prepared cos I always found it difficult to proceed to another section as my tangly 4c hair makes it difficult to achieve that well defined twist, but what excited me mostly is that we have nearly the same hair texture even though mine is super 4c,I mean tough,but thank you for easing off my frustrations✊

I love your idea of pre-parting. Seems like it makes things a lot eaiser and faster. I have a hard time grabbing hair as I flat twists and keeping the sections the same size.

Backwards is my favorite. However, my dilemma is no matter how hard I try I can only get one side to look decent if I flat twist frontwards and the other side if twist backwards. Must be my technique or something I just don't know what to do. I will try separating the sections before hand to see if that helps. Thanks for the demos

How long did it take for you to get these methods down without difficulty?

I wish I had seen this last night when I put my hair in flat twists. I twist backwards, twisting forward feels so weird to me. Next time I will try the third method for tighter twists.
