Yan I've seen many of your videos and I find them very inspiring and helpful. I would like to see a video of yours showing us how you make your Kick & Sub combo. How you make it sound so big.

I already have 2 kick videos on the channel ;)
Thanks to you, I started using glue compressor as a side chain more and I must say it’s my go to now

What would you say are the main benefits of glue compressor vs normal compressor?
@PANDApoopish
3 жыл бұрын
Rob Ekbery preference really. If you’re using them as a side chain they act as the same but both give different vibes feel in my opinion.

Rob Ekbery the Ableton glue compressor is modelled after the SSL Bus compressor which adds its own sonic character to the track, the soft clip setting adds a nice punch that is more difficult to get out of the standard one. The standard Ableton compressor however is much more transparent.

Okay cool, I've always been a standard compressor guy but might have to start experimenting
@Eightball69

@@robekbery4505 really easy to do parrellel compression just using the wet/dry on the Glue 👌
That pan on idea 3 would be insane on a proper soundsystem
We rarely see a video with 155 thumbs up as i am talking right now and without a single thumbs down ha hah amamzing job again man
your mixes are always soo clean, mine sound a little too dirty and muddy

High pass everything except for the Kick and the Bass and sidechain the bass so it ducks when the kick hits
Idea 2 is so fucking good, please make it into a tune dude

Im just getting started producing techno with ableton and I love your videos, do most of these come with Ableton or are plug ins? Cheers legend!!
@leandrojprz

all of the used effects come with Ableton
Please make Idea1 a whole song!
"The Sample EP" - I´m w/ Idea 1, coz i like the huge bassline. :)
Ach Yan, du geile Sau!
Just curious, with idea #3 did you know what you were going for starting out or did you just experiment until you found something you like? That FX chain is nuts
@YanCook
3 жыл бұрын
I experiment until I find something interesting :)
I hope you make a separate track for every idea xD
Creativity Level = Pro
hi! what are the limiter and the spectrum for at the end of the chain? is it to increase gain and monitor the signal?
@YanCook
3 жыл бұрын
Spectrum - to see frequency. Limiter - to see peaks.
hey! I want to get into creating music like this. Where shoud I start and what program do you use in your videos?
@Joiner113
3 жыл бұрын
It's Ableton live, but there are lots of other programs you can use. If you're interested in Ableton, watch some KZread tutorials before you invest any money.

idea2 does it for me
Great! Thanks! I have a question. Why you use the Utility mid/side in that value? I saw you use that in the most of your sounds
@YanCook

I use it to control stereo width.

Where are those amazing background pictures from?
@YanCook

Various macro photos + photoshop. I create them myself.
where can we get the samples used..?
Hi Yan, sorry If you have a video on this already. Been a fan of yours for a couple years now, I've learned how to mix pretty decently and I'd like to give a try at producing. I just got 2 questions at the moment if that's ok 😊 Is it feasible to make a decent enough track with just a laptop and a mixer? Is there a good way you would recommend to get sound samples? Since I don't currently have any way of recording high quality sounds, just my phone and my laptop. Thanks heaps if you're able to help me out here ☺
@YanCook

All you need to start is a laptop, good headphones and a DAW. Samples you can find online, I recommend to limit yourself to one pack, at least for the first year.

Just use the new delay, there's a ping pong button.

Because I don't have any bugs or problems with my version :) But eventually I will upgrade.
