Rob Ekbery the Ableton glue compressor is modelled after the SSL Bus compressor which adds its own sonic character to the track, the soft clip setting adds a nice punch that is more difficult to get out of the standard one. The standard Ableton compressor however is much more transparent.

Hi Yan, sorry If you have a video on this already. Been a fan of yours for a couple years now, I've learned how to mix pretty decently and I'd like to give a try at producing. I just got 2 questions at the moment if that's ok 😊 Is it feasible to make a decent enough track with just a laptop and a mixer? Is there a good way you would recommend to get sound samples? Since I don't currently have any way of recording high quality sounds, just my phone and my laptop. Thanks heaps if you're able to help me out here ☺

  • @YanCook

All you need to start is a laptop, good headphones and a DAW. Samples you can find online, I recommend to limit yourself to one pack, at least for the first year.
