Hey! I really hope this video rings your bell. I know the first time I heard about savoury porridge I was a bit hesitant, but why? It makes so much sense! I hope you give it a go and keep me updated!

I'd heard about savory oatmeal well over a year ago but was reluctant to try it. But this morning I woke up realizing I've been eating too much sweet (and too much honey in tea!). I already had my slow but lazy oatmeal ready when I turned on your video (where I just put the oats, water and salt in a small casserole dish in a 200-degree oven and let it cook for several hours), and just while listening to your video I added a bit of butter (which is mostly a no-no for me, but a treat) and then some unsalted roasted peanuts. I love it...! Really enjoy your style, and even though I may not go for any of your recipes exactly, they give me great ideas. Thanks for the video!

P.S. I am ESPECIALLY glad to warm up to oats more -- because eat foods with fiber is a big deal for me, and they are also otherwise so nutritious. And I'll still do it with blueberries and banana sometimes too!
I love how chill and not pretentious she is, its a nice break from the over charismatic chefs who look like they did a line of coke before shooting the video

Some great ideas! I've tried a few savoury ones now and fav so far is smoked bacon & diced pumpkin - next up to try that with your fried egg on top!
Omg nooch, cottage cheese, fried egg... that's how I've always eaten mine. ❤ love savoury oats
This reminds me of juk, Korean savory porridge. It's very good.
Ok, so this morning I wanted to try savory oatmeal with an egg on it, so i made it on the stove with 1/2 cup oats and 1 cup of chicken broth, and it was not good lol, so if anyone is thinking of trying oatmeal with chicken broth just add a splash, don’t replace all the water with it. Great video by the way! Excited to try the other recipes :D

I use steel cut oats in the summer as a break from rice. Cooked in the crock pot on low on the porch keeps the heat out of the kitchen too! Makes a great side to some fresh cut garden veggies and a chunk of cheese- oil and/or vinegar to taste.

Not a sweets for breakfast person, so savory oats have always been my go to. My latest thing is throwing together loaded veggie oat groat porridge in the instant pot before bed... lentils, greens, aromatics, mushrooms, whatever, sealing and setting the timer so it's done for breakfast! All hands off besides the few minutes it takes to throw everything into the pot, and almost as good as having someone cook breakfast for you!

For a couple of months I’ve been doing very thick oatmeal with an egg; but, I use butter and brown it while I’m cooking the egg. Of course, the yolk is runny. The browned butter really plays well with the oats.

I'm reading a book series at in Scottish Highlands. They dip cooked foods into prepared oatmeal. Example, they dip tatties (french fries that are sliced instead of julienne). They dip fish that was rolled in raw oats, deep fried, then when they take it to the table they dip it into cooked oatmeal.

I had my first bowl of savory oatmeal tonight. It was similar to the soy sauce and greens one you did. I did like it but it was a little weird to me eating the oats that way. I think I just need to mentally adjust cuz it did taste good and what I really like is how oats are so filling, especially at night when I tend to binge eat.

Isnt stand mushy oats I’m going to try savory oats but I will not be over cooking my oats 😂 I think the texture is more palatable with savory 🎉oats recipes
I love oats ! Except the way my Grandpa made them , he would pour them into the boiling water, then stir and stir and stir ,then stir some more, then after that he stir them and some more, and it would make them slimy like hot wall paper past. Makes gag just thinking about them. Then I learned to make them myself and really enjoy them.
This looks amazing, I love Oats , but do not like porridge, this however is right up my street. Thank you lovely lady.

Awww... seeing Grandma's canister made me tear up a bit! I remember it from as early as 1963 so it has had quite a life. My work kitchen has about 3 square feet of countertop and no range, so I do porridge for 12 toddlers with a no-cook method. I put the quick oats in a casserole dish (plus salt and sometimes sugar), then boil a kettle. Set the casserole dish on a couple of tea towels, pour in the boiling water, stir, then cover and put more tea towels on top for a bit of insulation. Let it sit 15 minutes to half an hour, adjust with more water if it is too thick and poof! it's done. Quick oats should definitely be on my convenient foods!

Usually I have some hot water left in the kettle from my tea, so I use that! But if not, cold water works fine too :)
Thats a lot of oil not a little bit! But I actually searched “savory breakfast” and found this. Want to keep sugar to 25 grams or at least try. The crispy egg ( yes a bunch of oil is fine!) one looks best

Raw egg yolk ruins anything its on!
All of you people saying oat meal shouldn’t be savory are wrong and RACIST. To everyone asking, no, it is not weird to put soy sauce in your oat meal. This is something I have done my whole life and believe to be completely normal, yet all of the staff here at the insane asylum where I live think I’m crazy for it. Amazing how of all the people freaked out about a little soy in their oat meal, I’m the one court ordered to be here, when all I did was kill my parents, cook them into a stew, and eat it.
I love polenta made and cooled in a bread pan then sliced and fried in butter. So good!
